What is a systematic review?

A Systematic Review job involves conducting comprehensive and structured reviews of existing research to answer specific questions. Professionals in this role systematically collect, evaluate, and synthesize relevant studies following predefined protocols to minimize bias. These reviews are commonly used in healthcare, social sciences, and policy-making to inform decisions based on high-quality evidence. Responsibilities may include literature searching, data extraction, quality assessment, and report writing. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and familiarity with research methodologies are essential for success in this role.

What are some typical challenges faced when conducting systematic reviews?

Systematic reviewers often encounter challenges such as managing large volumes of literature, ensuring unbiased and thorough data extraction, and dealing with incomplete or inconsistent information across studies. Coordination among team members, particularly when studies use different methodologies or report outcomes variably, can also pose difficulties. Staying up-to-date with best practices and maintaining rigorous documentation throughout the review process is essential. Overcoming these challenges requires strong project management skills and effective collaboration, making systematic reviews a demanding but rewarding research role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the systematic review position, and why are they important?

To excel in a Systematic Review position, you need strong research skills, critical thinking, and expertise in literature search and synthesis, often supported by an advanced degree in health sciences or social sciences. Familiarity with databases such as PubMed, Embase, and tools like Covidence or RevMan, along with knowledge of PRISMA guidelines, is typically required. Attention to detail, organizational ability, and effective communication make candidates stand out in this meticulous and collaborative role. These competencies are crucial for producing high-quality, transparent, and reproducible systematic reviews that inform evidence-based decision-making.

Job description

Description:

Hello, we're Augeo – we are a global leader in enterprise-level engagement and loyalty platform technology, delivering compelling experiences and fostering meaningful connections for employees, consumers, members and channel partners across many industries and verticals. We serve hundreds of clients, including 70+ Fortune 500 companies, representing millions of end users. We are thought leaders and disruptors who think differently and creatively, built by entrepreneurs, operators and innovators.

At Augeo, we're passionate about providing an inclusive workplace that values diversity and our sustainability initiatives. Everyone is welcome - our employees are comfortable bringing their authentic whole selves to work. Be you, reach your full potential.

We work hard, we play hard and, most importantly, we care to our core about our teams and each other. We over-communicate around everything...especially while we navigate our new hybrid world.

Summary

We're looking for a Salesforce Marketing Cloud expert to lead our marketing automation team and serve as our go-to technical authority on the platform. You’ll spend your days deep in email campaigns, data extensions, Automation Studio, and Journey Builder, while also managing and developing a team of front-end developers and email specialists. You're the kind of person who's comfortable troubleshooting a complex journey configuration one hour and coaching a team member the next. Beyond the day-to-day platform work, you'll help us stay ahead of where AI and automation can make our workflows smarter, and you'll bring the process discipline that keeps our campaigns accurate, on-brand, and running smoothly across every client and business unit we support.

What you'll spend your days on:

Salesforce Marketing Cloud Excellence

  • Serving as the primary technical expert for Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Pardot, and related Salesforce ecosystem tools
  • Owning data extension structure, management, and best practices across all campaigns and business units
  • Managing list imports, data hygiene, and variable field mapping to keep data clean and accurate across sources
  • Configuring and optimizing Automation Studio builds, and designing, deploying, and troubleshooting Journey Builder flows and advanced segmentation strategies
  • Overseeing data extracts and delivery schedules, along with dynamic sender profile setup across brands and business units
  • Managing integrations between Salesforce platforms and other marketing technologies
  • Leading platform upgrades, new feature adoption, and system optimization initiatives
  • New client onboarding and configuration
  • Owning platform contracting and billing

Email Campaign Management

  • Establishing and maintaining best practices and accessibility for email campaigns
  • Building and editing HTML templates, including AMPscript/SSJS for dynamic content
  • Running multi-tenant QA and Litmus testing to catch issues before deployment, and coordinating global send scheduling across time zones and languages
  • Overseeing deliverability optimization, list hygiene, and compliance with CAN-SPAM, GDPR, and other regulations
  • Managing advanced personalization strategies and dynamic content implementation
  • Analyzing performance metrics and implementing data-driven optimization strategies
  • Ensuring a consistent brand experience across all automated touchpoints

Leading and Developing the Team

  • Managing, mentoring, and growing a team of front-end developers and email coders
  • Conducting regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, and career development planning sessions
  • Identifying skill gaps and building training programs to strengthen coding ability and technical proficiency, including cross-training the team on SFMC configuration and process documentation
  • Creating learning pathways for team members to grow their expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, marketing automation platforms, and AI-assisted workflows
  • Fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence

Quality Assurance and Process Excellence

  • Developing and maintaining comprehensive QA processes for all marketing automation activities
  • Creating detailed testing protocols for email campaigns, subscriber data, and automation workflows
  • Implementing systematic review processes to ensure accuracy and consistency across all deliverables
  • Managing campaign deployment schedules and coordinating cross-functional testing procedures
  • Spotting process gaps and modernizing how the team works
  • Maintaining meticulous documentation and organizational standards for all automation assets

Driving AI Innovation and Efficiency

  • Staying current with AI-driven marketing automation tools and recent SFMC innovations, and identifying opportunities for implementation
  • Leading initiatives to integrate AI into email personalization, audience segmentation, and campaign optimization
  • Actively testing new AI features and tools as they emerge, rather than waiting for them to be proven elsewhere first
  • Researching emerging technologies that can improve team productivity and campaign performance
  • Developing strategies to leverage machine learning and predictive analytics within marketing automation workflows
  • Evangelizing AI best practices and responsible AI implementation across marketing initiatives
  • Bringing that same curiosity to the team, encouraging experimentation and sharing what you learn along the way

What you need to be successful in this role:

Technical Expertise

  • 7+ years of experience in marketing automation with 3+ years in a management role
  • Deep, hands-on expert-level proficiency in Salesforce Marketing Cloud, gained across multiple client or business-unit environments, not a generalist email background — you've lived inside data extensions, Automation Studio, and Journey Builder, and you're just as comfortable in the weeds of a configuration as you are talking strategy
  • Strong working knowledge of Pardot and Salesforce CRM
  • Advanced knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and AMPscript/SSJS
  • Strong understanding of email deliverability, authentication protocols (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), and inbox placement optimization
  • Experience with SMS marketing platforms and mobile messaging best practices

Leadership and Development

  • Proven track record of successfully managing and developing technical teams
  • Experience building training programs and upskilling team members in coding and automation platforms
  • Strong coaching and mentoring abilities with a focus on technical skill development
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders

Process and Quality Focus

  • Exceptional attention to detail with a systematic approach to quality assurance
  • Experience developing and implementing comprehensive testing methodologies
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Data-driven mindset with experience in campaign performance analysis and optimization

Communication and Collaboration

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a genuine enjoyment of teaching others
  • Experience presenting technical concepts to executive leadership
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with marketing, IT, and sales teams
  • Project management experience with ability to coordinate complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives

Preferred Qualifications

  • Salesforce Marketing Cloud certifications (Email Specialist, Consultant, Developer)
  • Experience supporting multi-client or agency-side marketing programs
  • Familiarity with enterprise B2C or B2B2C environments
  • Experience with marketing attribution models and multi-touch campaign analysis
  • Knowledge of API integrations and data management platforms
  • Background in A/B testing methodologies and statistical significance
  • Experience with privacy compliance and data governance in marketing technology
