The location in Hawesville, (Kentucky, United States), is seeking talent to fill the position of Storeroom Supervisor. This job is full-time permanent.

Storeroom Supervisor

Position Summary

The Storeroom Supervisor reports directly to the Purchasing Manager and plays a critical role in supporting safe, efficient, and reliable mill operations. This is an exempt position responsible for supervising up to five (5) employees within the hourly unionized workforce.

A strong commitment to workplace safety, operational excellence, inventory accuracy, and continuous improvement is essential for success in this role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Storeroom & Inventory Management

  • Manage all functions related to the receipt, storage, issuance, and tracking of maintenance parts, tools, materials, and operating supplies within the mill storeroom.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy through proper documentation, cycle counting, and inventory control procedures.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment activities to maintain operational readiness while minimizing excess inventory.
  • Maintain organized storeroom conditions that support efficient retrieval, safe handling, and proper storage of materials.
  • Ensure all inventory transactions are accurately entered and maintained within SAP.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing, Maintenance, Engineering, and Operations to standardize materials and commodities where appropriate.
  • Adjust inventory target levels based on historical usage, criticality, and risk while maintaining appropriate inventory levels to support mill operations.

Process Improvement & Compliance

  • Establish and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for storeroom and inventory activities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve inventory processes, reduce waste, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and ethical business practices.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory management, maintenance reliability, and procurement operations.

Supervision

  • Supervise storeroom and receiving personnel to ensure all parts, materials, and supplies are properly received, stored, and accurately inventoried. 
  • Manage the hourly storeroom workforce, including scheduling, payroll, vacation planning, attendance, and performance management.
  •  Fulfill all safety leadership responsibilities associated with managing the storeroom team.
  • Provide coaching, training, and development opportunities to support employee growth and operational excellence.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree; or
  • Associate degree with a minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience and knowledge of storeroom operations; or
  • High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant work and supervisory experience.
  • Associate degree or technical training in Supply Chain, Business, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field preferred.

Experience

  • Proven experience in inventory management, storeroom operations, or materials coordination within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with maintenance repair operations (MRO) inventory preferred.
  • Experience coordinating repairable inventory and vendor relationships preferred.
  • Experience supervising employees in a unionized manufacturing environment preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in SAP or other enterprise inventory management systems.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to interpret equipment data, parts specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with inventory control methods, purchasing procedures, and material tracking systems.

  • May require occasional overtime or support during outages and maintenance shutdowns.
