Operations Manager | Combined-Cycle Power Generation | Northern Virginia


A leading energy services company is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead operations at a 2x1 combined-cycle natural gas power plant in Northern Virginia.


What You’ll Do

  • Lead daily operations and manage Operations & Maintenance Technicians and Lead OMTs
  • Drive a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with plant and company procedures
  • Lead employee development, training, cross-training, and qualification programs
  • Oversee Lockout/Tagout and operational procedures
  • Monitor and optimize plant performance, reliability, and efficiency
  • Support environmental, HSE, NERC, and contractual compliance
  • Partner with the Facility Manager on budgets, reporting, staffing, and plant performance
  • Identify process improvements and opportunities to reduce operating and contractor costs
  • Build and maintain a highly motivated, productive, and technically capable operations team
  • Make sound operational decisions during emergency situations


What We’re Looking For

  • 7+ years of relevant power generation experience
  • 4+ years in a supervisory, management, or project leadership role
  • Strong combined-cycle power plant operations experience
  • Required: Hands-on knowledge of large frame gas turbines (Siemens, GE, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of O&M functions within a combined-cycle facility
  • Knowledge of NERC requirements and power system operations
  • Ability to read P&IDs, electrical one-lines, logic drawings, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and team development skills
  • Associate’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience required; bachelor’s degree preferred
