Title: Network Analyst
Location: White Plains, NY
Duration: 12 Months
 

Network Maintenance and Performance: Assure NYPA's networking requirements are met with the highest level of performance and reliability by assisting the team in maintaining the hardware and software components of NYPA's networks.

Job Functions & Responsibilities

  • Installation: Install new hardware or software systems or components, ensuring integration with existing network systems. Install or repair network cables, including fiber optic cables. Install network software, including security or firewall software. Install and configure wireless networking equipment.
  • Problem Resolution: Work with vendors to diagnose and resolve network problems. Operate and configure protocol analyzers to diagnose issues, analyze captured data using network protocols, and use network monitoring software to detect conditions requiring corrective action or performance tuning.
  • Collaboration: Assist with the integration, maintenance, and problem resolution of network services and wiring infrastructures by working with other networking and telecommunications staff, user support entities, vendors, and end-users, including NYPA contractors and guests.
  • Record Keeping: Ensure accurate records are kept of network components, maintenance activities, network connections, accounts, and inventory.
  • Programming: Program network applications as needed, such as web, network monitoring, bandwidth utilization, general data collection, reporting, and automated response to abnormal or undesirable network conditions.
  • General Duties: Contribute to the overall success of Information Services by performing all other essential duties as assigned.

Skills

  • Proven experience as a Network Analyst, Network Administrator, or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols, routing, switching, and firewall configurations.
  • Experience with network monitoring tools and software such as SolarWinds, OpManager, and Splunk.
  • Familiarity with network security practices and frameworks such as NIST and CIS.
  • Experience with ticketing systems like ServiceNow.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
