Job description

Overview

The HRIS Manager is responsible for leading the strategy, optimization, and ongoing management of the organization’s Human Resources Information System, with a primary focus on Workday HCM as the future-state platform. This role serves as the Workday system owner and subject matter expert, ensuring the platform effectively supports HR processes, data integrity, reporting, and business operations.

The organization is currently leveraging UKG (HRIS), iCIMS (ATS), and ServiceNow for case management, and is in the process of evolving its HR technology stack, including a transition to Workday and Jira. This role will play a critical leadership role in that transformation.

This position requires deep hands-on Workday experience, strong leadership capability, and the ability to lead system transformation initiatives. The HRIS Manager will also directly manage a team of two HRIS Analysts, providing guidance, development, and oversight of day-to-day system operations.

This position that offers a competitive salary range of $140,000 to $160,000, plus an annual bonus. Compensation may vary based on experience, location, and other job-related factors.


Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary owner and SME for Workday HCM, including configuration, business processes, security, reporting, and integrations
  • Lead the transition from UKG to Workday, including implementation support, data migration, testing, and change management
  • Create and manage an HR technology roadmap to include system governance, change management, and vendor/implementation partner management

  • Manage and develop a team of 2 HRIS Analysts, providing direction, mentorship, and performance management
  • Oversee the ongoing optimization, enhancement, and administration of Workday post-implementation
  • Partner with HR and business leaders to translate requirements into scalable Workday solutions
  • Support and manage the current HR technology ecosystem, including UKG, iCIMS, and case management tools (ServiceNow transitioning to Jira)
  • Oversee and support Workday integrations with internal systems and third-party vendors
  • Drive process improvement and automation across HR systems to increase efficiency and reduce manual work
  • Ensure data integrity, governance, and compliance, including security roles and audit controls
  • Develop and deliver reports, dashboards, and analytics across systems, with a future focus on Workday reporting
  • Manage system upgrades, releases, and enhancements, including testing and rollout
  • Troubleshoot system issues and manage escalations with vendors and internal partners\
  • Stay current on Workday releases and HR technology trends, recommending system enhancements
  • Manage vendor relationships and ensure delivery of high-quality system support

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
  • 5+ years of direct, hands-on Workday experience required
  • Proven experience serving as a Workday administrator, lead, or owner in an HCM environment
  • Experience supporting or participating in HRIS transformations or system migrations (e.g., UKG to
  • Workday) strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience managing or leading others; prior people management experience required
  • Strong expertise in Workday configuration, business process framework, and system administration
  • Experience with Workday modules such as Core HCM, Recruiting, Compensation, Benefits, or Talent
  • Proficiency in Workday reporting (advanced, matrix, dashboards) and analytics
  • Experience with Workday integrations (EIBs, APIs, or middleware tools)
  • Strong knowledge of HR processes, data governance, and reporting
  • Excellent project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience working across multiple HR systems (e.g., UKG, iCIMS, ServiceNow, Jira) preferred
  • Knowledge of data privacy and compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA)
