Job description

Title: Senior Project Manager – PowerPlan Implementation (Utility Industry)

Location: Houston, Texas Onsite -no remote- no exceptions

Type of Hire: Contract

Duration: 6+ Months

 

Key Responsibilities

1.    Lead end-to-end implementation of the PowerPlan platform for a large utility organization, including planning, execution, governance, deployment, and stabilization activities.

2.    Manage complex enterprise transformation initiatives involving utility finance, asset accounting, capital projects, tax, regulatory reporting, and depreciation processes.

3.    Coordinate cross-functional teams including business stakeholders, PowerPlan vendor resources, system integrators, SAP/ERP teams, infrastructure, database, security, and application support teams.

4.    Drive overall program governance including project plans, milestones, RAID management, executive reporting, budget tracking, and steering committee communications.

5.    Lead requirements gathering, solution workshops, business process alignment, and integration planning activities with utility finance and accounting teams.

6.    Oversee implementation activities related to PowerPlan integrations with enterprise systems such as SAP, Oracle databases, asset management, data warehouse, and reporting platforms.

7.    Ensure successful execution of data migration, testing, cutover, hypercare, and transition-to-support activities.

8.    Manage vendor relationships and coordinate deliverables across PowerPlan, implementation partners, infrastructure providers, and third-party consulting organizations.

9.    Establish and enforce project governance standards, change management processes, risk mitigation strategies, and quality assurance procedures.

10. Collaborate with cybersecurity, infrastructure, and cloud teams to ensure compliance, resiliency, disaster recovery, and operational readiness requirements are incorporated into the implementation.

11. Drive executive-level communication and provide regular status updates, issue escalation, dependency tracking, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.

12. Support organizational change management, user adoption, training coordination, and operational readiness activities to ensure successful business transition.

Required Qualifications

1.    At least 12+ years of enterprise IT project/program management experience with at least 5+ years leading large-scale ERP, utility finance, or PowerPlan implementations.

2.    Preferably, the candidate should have prior experience leading implementation of PowerPlan or similar enterprise financial/accounting SaaS platforms within utility or asset-intensive organizations. Strong experience managing enterprise utility industry projects involving regulatory accounting, fixed assets, capital project accounting, tax, and financial systems modernization.

3.    Proven experience managing complex integrations across SAP, Oracle, enterprise data platforms, cloud environments, and third-party applications.

4.    Demonstrated expertise leading large cross-functional teams, system integrators, vendors, and executive stakeholder engagements within utility or energy organizations.

5.    Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile, Waterfall, hybrid delivery methodologies, enterprise testing, cutover planning, and post-go-live stabilization processes.

6.    Excellent executive communication, leadership, governance, risk management, budgeting, and vendor management skills.

1.    PMP (Project Management Professional) – Mandatory

3.    ITIL Certification (Preferred)

4.    SAP or ERP Program Management certifications (Preferred)
