About the Role
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support existing products, drive cost value engineering initiatives, and assist in the development of new mechatronic products. This role involves designing and developing mechanical hardware and devices, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and preparing technical documentation to support product designs.
Responsibilities
  • Provide support for existing products and lead cost value engineering efforts
  • Design and develop mechanical hardware and devices (controllers, sensors, actuators, enclosures, accessories)
  • Collaborate with engineers, lab teams, technical writers, approvals managers, and technicians to coordinate design development
  • Assemble or direct assembly of mechanical hardware and systems
  • Use engineering software for project management, 3D modeling, mechanical layouts, and reporting
  • Prepare technical documentation to support product designs
  • Work with outside vendors to optimize design and obtain production/tooling costs
  • Assist field employees in troubleshooting product problems at customer/distributor locations
  • Visit suppliers to resolve production issues as needed
  • Generate development/product cost, schedules, and mechanical engineering specifications

What We Ask of You
  • Use 3D modeling software to design and modify components for mechatronic products
  • Apply engineering software for layouts, component details, illustrations, and reporting
  • Prepare draft technical documentation for product designs
  • Collaborate with vendors for design optimization and costing
  • Support field troubleshooting and customer issue resolution
  • Generate cost, schedule, and specifications for design teams

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, assembly, and fabrication for electro-mechanical devices
  • Strong written communication skills for reports and specifications
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to use design software; working knowledge of Siemens PLM NX, ERP systems (SAP), and TeamCenter desirable

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
  • BSME degree
  • Minimum 3 years of design experience using Siemens NX and TeamCenter tools
  • Experience in mechanical laboratory or other hands-on environments desirable
