Job description

Introduction
As a QA/Test Intern within IBM Infrastructure, you will ensure the quality, reliability, performance, and security of enterprise software solutions. You will work closely with developers, architects, product managers, and support teams to design and execute comprehensive testing strategies, automate test coverage, identify defects, and drive continuous quality improvements throughout the software development lifecycle.
Your role and responsibilities
• Design, develop, and execute functional, integration, system, regression, performance, and end-to-end test plans.
• Develop and maintain automated test frameworks, scripts, and test suites to improve test coverage and efficiency.
• Collaborate with software developers and product teams to understand requirements and ensure quality is built into the development process.
• Identify, document, prioritize, and track software defects through resolution.
• Validate new features, enhancements, and bug fixes to ensure they meet functional and non-functional requirements.
• Participate in code reviews, design reviews, sprint planning, and agile development activities.
• Perform root cause analysis of product defects and work with engineering teams to drive corrective actions.
• Contribute to continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines by integrating automated testing and quality gates.
• Monitor product quality metrics and recommend improvements to testing processes, tools, and methodologies.
• Create and maintain test documentation, validation reports, and quality assurance standards.

Required technical and professional expertise
• Understanding of software testing methodologies, test design techniques, and quality assurance principles.
• Experience developing and executing manual and automated test cases.
• Proficiency in one or more programming or scripting languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, Go, or Shell scripting.
• Familiarity with test automation frameworks and tools.
• Knowledge of defect tracking and test management tools.
• Experience with Linux/Unix operating systems and command-line environments.
• Understanding of REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems testing.
• Knowledge of source control systems such as Git.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
Preferred technical and professional experience
• Experience building and maintaining enterprise-scale test automation frameworks.
• Knowledge of cloud-native technologies including Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker, and containerized applications.
• Experience testing storage, backup, cybersecurity, disaster recovery, or infrastructure management solutions.
• Familiarity with performance, scalability, reliability, and security testing.
• Experience with API automation, UI automation, and service virtualization tools.
• Knowledge of observability, monitoring, logging, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) concepts.
• Experience with AI-assisted testing, test analytics, or intelligent automation solutions.
• Familiarity with IBM Infrastructure technologies, Red Hat OpenShift, hybrid cloud platforms, and enterprise software environments.
