Power Systems Engineering Manager – Material Handling

We bring the muscle. As one of the most complete lifting companies in the world, Lanco supports iconic heavy equipment manufacturers, mobile crane dealerships across the U.S. and Canada, and the largest parts and service network in North America—backed by factory-authorized technician training.
Our Material Handling Division, spanning Mi-Jack RTG cranes, Broderson industrial cranes, LiftKing forklifts, and Greenfield equipment, is hiring a Power Systems Engineering Manager. This leadership role is responsible for guiding the design and development of engine installation systems, hydraulic systems, and driveline systems across our product portfolio. You’ll lead a high-performing team, drive innovation, and ensure performance, reliability, and standardization across product lines through cross-functional collaboration and strategic partnerships.

What You'll Do:
• Lead and manage a team responsible for power systems design and development across multiple product lines.
• Drive collaboration across engineering platforms and technical teams to develop integrated solutions.
• Develop and maintain strategic relationships with engine, hydraulic, and driveline partners.
• Define and execute power system development and validation strategies with internal experts and suppliers.
• Coach, mentor, and develop engineering talent, fostering technical growth and team performance.
• Lead new product introduction efforts, ensuring alignment with quality, timing, and engineering standards.
• Provide input into engineering processes, resource planning, and project budgets.
• Oversee the creation, detailing, and release of engineering drawings and CAD models (Autodesk Inventor).
• Coordinate performance evaluations, staffing plans, and goal-setting for team members.
• Collaborate globally with cross-functional teams and support international initiatives.
• Monitor industry trends and adapt team capabilities to support emerging technologies.

Do You Have??
• Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to influence across functions.
• Deep technical expertise in engine, hydraulic, and driveline systems for heavy equipment.
• Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects while maintaining quality and timelines.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills with internal teams and external partners.
• Experience developing engineering processes and driving continuous improvement.
• Proficiency in CAD systems (Autodesk Inventor preferred) and engineering documentation.
• Ability to work effectively across global teams and diverse cultural environments.

What We're Looking For:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of engineering experience in power systems within heavy equipment industries.
• 5+ years of leadership experience managing engineering teams.

Preferred Education & Experience:
• Master’s degree in a related engineering discipline.
• Experience in material handling, construction, or agricultural equipment industries.

Work Environment
This position is primarily office-based with moderate noise levels and controlled conditions, with occasional collaboration in manufacturing or field environments.

Physical & Travel Demands
• Occasional lifting and movement of materials up to 30 pounds.
• Approximately 10% domestic and international travel required.

Additional Information
• Location: Hazel Crest, IL
• Domestic relocation available for qualified candidates
• Visa sponsorship is not available for this role

Compensation/Benefits:
We foster a collaborative team environment that values innovation and encourages creative solutions to drive positive organizational impact. Our employees are the key to our success and help us stand out from our competitors. The base pay range for this role is $125,000 to $175,000. The final compensation offer may vary based on factors such as experience, education, skills, and location. We offer competitive pay, paid time off, and comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and a 401(k) plan.
