To thrive as a Sysops Engineer, you need a solid understanding of system administration, cloud platforms (like AWS or Azure), scripting, and networking, often supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation), monitoring solutions, and relevant certifications such as AWS Certified SysOps Administrator is typical.
