Job description

We are seeking an experienced Automation Operations Manager for a direct hire, long term opportunity in Atlanta, GA. We offer comprehensive HVAC, building automation systems, facilities, and energy solutions. From design to delivery, our solutions are tailored to the specific needs of high-profile organizations in commercial buildings, data centers, industrial facilities, and other mission critical sites.

Overview of role

The Automation Operations Manager will lead and coordinate all automation department activities within the Georgia and Alabama divisions. This pivotal role is responsible for driving exceptional customer satisfaction, achieving significant departmental growth, and maximizing profitability. This will be accomplished through the strategic implementation and continuous monitoring of efficient processes, the promotion of operational excellence, and the cultivation of strong team synergy across both the controls service and project business lines within the assigned region.

Compensation

$120,000-$140,000 depending on experience

$15k to 30k , plus Safety bonus

Responsibilities for Automation Operations Manager
  • Leadership and Coordination: Direct and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the automation department across the Georgia and Alabama divisions.
  • Drive a zero-injury safety culture: Take ownership in driving a zero-injury safety culture. Work closely with the Safety Manager to promote team safety and ensure accident-free driving.
  • Strategic Implementation: Develop, implement, and monitor standardized processes and best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within both the controls service and project teams.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Champion a customer-centric approach, ensuring high levels of satisfaction through proactive communication, effective problem-solving, and the delivery of quality services and solutions through our core values.
  • Growth and Profitability: Develop and execute strategies to drive departmental growth, increase revenue, and improve profitability in both service and project sectors.
  • Performance Management: Establish and report key performance indicators (KPIs), track performance metrics, and implement corrective actions as needed to ensure departmental goals are met.
  • Resource Management: Effectively manage departmental resources, including personnel, scheduling, forecasting, budgeting, tools, training, and equipment, to optimize efficiency and achieve financial targets.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure adherence to all company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Prepare regular reports on departmental performance, including customer satisfaction, growth metrics, and profitability, and present findings to the General Manager.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as sales, engineering, mechanical, project managers, and finance, to ensure seamless integration and alignment of business objectives.
  • Market Awareness: Stay informed about industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies in the automation sector within the region.
  • Sales Support: Work with the sales team to propose projects, maintenance, and service opportunities through scope and estimate reviews, site inspections, and customer meetings.
Requirements for Automation Operations Manager
  • Knowledgeable in multiple control manufacturer systems
  • Some training or certifications, including Schneider, Tridium Niagara, & Distech (preferred)
  • Will be required to perform the physical duties of a technician to assist with complex jobs in the field.
  • 5-10 years of progressive experience in the automation industry, with demonstrated leadership responsibilities.
  • Proven track record of driving customer satisfaction, achieving business growth, and improving profitability.
  • Strong understanding of the controls service and project-based business models within the automation sector.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to utilize company business systems to track and monitor key metrics.
  • Must be willing to travel within the Georgia and Alabama divisions as needed.
