Job description

Are you analytical, eager to learn, and excited about building a career in commercial banking? A role as an Associate Banker is for you.

 As an Associate Banker within the Food & Agribusiness Banking team, you will support the growth and retention of profitable client relationships within the Food & Agribusiness sector. The team covers companies across a broad spectrum of food and agricultural sectors including sourcing, manufacturing, processing, and distribution.

In this role, you will work closely with senior bankers to deliver credit, treasury services, international banking, syndicated finance, commercial card, and Chase Paymentech solutions to our clients. You will gain hands-on experience across the full lifecycle of client coverage, credit underwriting, and deal execution while developing deep industry expertise. The Food & Agribusiness team is part of JPMorgan's Commercial Bank in its Middle Market Banking & Specialized Industries (MMBSI) group 

Job Responsibilities

  • Support senior bankers in managing and growing client relationships within the Food & Agribusiness sector, including wholesale distribution, brands and suppliers, and co-manufacturing 
  • Conduct financial analysis, spread financials, and prepare credit memos to support underwriting and deal execution
  • Assist in the preparation of client presentations, pitch materials, and proposals that showcase the firm's capabilities and solutions
  • Participate in client meetings, calls, and site visits; build rapport and contribute to a customer-centric mindset 
  • Stay informed on industry trends within Food & Agribusiness to identify opportunities for innovation, strategic partnerships, and client solutions 
  • Coordinate with internal partners across lines of business including Investment Banking, Syndicated Finance, Asset Based Lending, Direct Lending, Treasury Services, and Risk Management 
  • Support the execution of credit transactions, including loan structuring, documentation review, and compliance with internal credit policies and procedures
  • Manage pipeline tracking, client data, and reporting to ensure accuracy and timeliness
  • Embrace innovation and automation to improve efficiency and leverage new technologies in support of client coverage and internal workflows 

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills 

  • Strong financial analysis skills, including proficiency in spreading financials, building credit models, and assessing cash flow and leverage metrics
  • Understanding of commercial banking products and services, including credit, treasury, and payment solutions 
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal partners, resources, and cross-functional teams 
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish credibility and build relationships with senior business partners and clients 
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and financial modeling tools

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • 2 + years of experience in credit analysis, commercial banking, corporate banking, or related financial services; direct lending or credit support experience preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field; formal credit training preferred 
  • Experience or interest in the Food & Agribusiness sector, including wholesale distribution, brands and suppliers, sourcing, manufacturing, processing, and co-manufacturing 
  • Demonstrated business development skills and proficiency in building and maintaining positive client relationships 
  • Strong creative problem-solving abilities, flexibility to adapt to changing business priorities, and ability to multitask 
  • Excellent business judgment, strategic thinking, self-directed work style, and proactive mindset 
  • Familiarity with syndicated finance, asset-based lending, or investment banking products and processes
