Job description

Blue Ridge Beverage Company is a family-owned beverage distribution company that delivers beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages throughout the greater SWVA region. Headquartered out of Salem, this includes additional locations in Waynesboro, Lynchburg, and Abingdon that support the surrounding markets.

Job Summary:

We are hiring an Office Administrator to support the overall daily operations of our Salem delivery, sales, and warehouse teams. This includes but is not limited to the following duties:

Morning

  • Collect and process customer check payments.
  • Scan checks and prepare the daily bank deposit.
  • Make sure the deposit matches the daily totals.

Mid-Day

  • Process customer and vendor orders.
  • Upload vendor orders into the VIP sales system.
  • Find and report any order discrepancies to the sales team for correction.

Afternoon

  • Check in drivers at the end of their routes.
  • Match customer checks to the amounts entered.
  • Verify checks comply with ABC license requirements.
  • Correct any check entry errors made by drivers.
  • Confirm proof of payment (DSD receipts) has been received.
  • Close out driver routes and identify any shortages or overages.
  • Submit daily invoicing files for payment to numerous vendors.

Additional Info:

  • Location: Salem, VA (Roanoke County)
  • Schedule: Mon – Fri 9 AM – 6 PM  
  • Pay: $20-$23/hr
  • Pre-Employment Requirements: Drug screen and background check required.

*Blue Ridge Beverage is open on these days and due to the seasonal nature of the industry, you may be required to work. In lieu of that, you would receive floating time off for later use.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience in an administrative setting.
  • Exceptional oral, written, and overall communication skills.
  • Demonstrated success in setting priorities; exceptional analytic, organization, and problem-solving skills; strong ability to multi-task across diverse projects, issues, and scenarios, with the ability to pivot quickly.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement in areas of responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous demonstrated success in an administrative or purchasing role.
  • Accounts payable/accounts receivable experience helpful.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) software package.

Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen that includes THC.

The following list of physical requirements are required to perform the entire job: standing; walking; sitting; stooping; fine finger and hand manipulation; speaking clearly; hearing to be able to maintain conversation; seeing to be able to read and to drive a vehicle; and lifting, moving, and carrying up to 25 lbs.
