Job description

PURPOSE OF ROLE:

Set up, operate and blend material per the specifications. Provide technical competence in the operation of blending equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Follow all blend formulations and insure all components are accurately formulated in the blender.
  • Document all final blends including: date, time, blender name, components, location, weight and operator completing the blend form.
  • Daily communication with operations manager for production runs as well as any concerns regarding equipment or operations.
  • Insure tracks are clear, assist on all switches and report any damages if necessary.
  • Pull all incoming/outgoing samples for lab analysis.
  • Wash and dry all empty silos, blenders and railcars prior to loading.
  • Insure proper seals are in place for all loaded railcars.
  • Follow proper procedures for loading bulk trucks, including the inspection of proper connections, operations and completion.
  • Complete transloading operations per the work order, including proper hose connections between railcars.
  • Work in a safe manner and follow all company rules and policies concerning safety and PPE.
  • Ensure that you have a productive, safe, clean, and efficient work environment.
  • Conduct visual checks of machinery and escalate any issues to appropriate management or maintenance.
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by Supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE / QUALIFICATONS / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in warehouse and/or blending environment.
  • Knowledge of material type and specification related to polymers.
  • Good math, language, and reading skills.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work well with others.
  • Able to follow instructions.
  • Knowledge of proper PPE requirements.
  • Functional knowledge of handling rail cars and troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic computer skills may be required.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma/GED

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • A variety of standing, sitting and walking throughout the day
  • Ability to adjust body position to bend, stoop, stand, walk, turn, pivot and stand for long periods of time.
  • Potential lifting of up to 55 pounds
  • Occasional climbing of ladders
  • Use of basic warehouse equipment and hand tools
  • Ability to differentiate colors, depth and perception
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and weather conditions, depending upon season
