Position Summary
ITT Micro-Mode is seeking a Swiss Screw Setup Machinist to join our precision manufacturing team in El Cajon, CA. This role is responsible for both setup and operation of Tsugami and Star CNC machines to produce small, high-precision components for business-critical applications. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with this type of machine, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to independently manage setups, troubleshoot issues, and ensure consistent part quality in a fast-paced production environment.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Set up and operateTsugami and Star CNC machines to manufacture precision components.
  • Interpret blueprints, CAD models, and setup sheets to ensure accurate machining and part conformance
  • Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, and machine offsets for each job.
  • Perform first-article inspections and make necessary adjustments to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Monitor machine operations and make real-time adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve setup and machining issues independently.
  • Document setup procedures and best practices for repeatability and training purposes.
  • Collaborate with programmers, engineers, and quality personnel to optimize machining strategies.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with 5S and safety standards.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and proactively report mechanical issues.
  • Mentor and support junior machinists and operators as needed.
  • Participate in Lean, Kaizen, and other continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED required; technical training or certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of CNC machining experience, with at least 3 years operating and setting up Swiss-style CNC machines.
  • Strong experience with Citizen, Nakamura, Star, or Tsugami machines.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and GD&T.
  • Deep understanding of CNC controls, tooling, and machining principles.
  • Skilled in using precision measuring instruments and inspection techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and process control.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of setup and production outcomes.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts or overtime as needed.

Equal Pay Act Range
Hourly Range is from $31.53 to $47.11, plus a benefit plan and a $2,000 bonus paid after 90 days in the role.
