Job description

Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Aquatic Director and Aquatics Program Manager, a swim instructor will teach group lessons to students aged 2-13 and follow Samena’s swim curriculum. Swim instructors will use their swimming knowledge, along with the knowledge given to them during instructor training to ensure a fun and safe swimming environment for all students.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach swim lessons to the standard taught in instructor training
  • Caution swimmers regarding unsafe practices and safety hazards in a friendly and helpful manner
  • Follow emergency action plan and procedures established in the event of an emergency
  • Maintain order in the pool and adjoining areas
  • Provide excellent customer service to all members and guests using the facility
  • Ensure safe, quality swim lessons for all assigned students
  • Write quality reports cards for swim lesson students
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Current American Red Cross Certifications (or equivalent)
    • Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED
    • These trainings will be provided by the Samena Club if currently uncertified
  • Strong communication skills
  • Previous Swimming Experience (no swim lesson experience required; we provide paid training)
  • Excellent Customer service skills

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner
  • Knowledge and skill in the application of CPR & First Aid
  • Knowledge of effective safety standards and precautions related to swimming
  • Ability to remain calm in any emergency situation

Our facility includes a fitness room, playground, classrooms, tennis courts, a seasonal wading pool, a year-round 25-yard, 6 lane outdoor pool and a year-round 25-meter, 6 lane indoor pool.
