HW/SW Systems Engineer (Level 5)

Location: Middletown, RI (100% Onsite)

Clearance: Active Secret Clearance Required

Duration: Long term contract with potential to extend or convert to perm

HW/SW Systems Engineer

A leading aerospace and defense organization is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to support the ORCA Program in Middletown, Rhode Island. This position is responsible for developing and managing system requirements throughout the engineering lifecycle while working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, program leadership, and government customers.

The successful candidate will play a key role in requirements development, systems integration, verification and validation, configuration management, and technical leadership supporting advanced hardware and software systems.

This position is 100% onsite in Middletown, RI and requires an active DoD Secret Clearance.

Compensation & Benefits

Estimated Pay Range: $103.00 - $121.50/hour

Responsibilities

  • Capture and maintain program requirements within a requirements management database
  • Develop, analyze, decompose, and maintain system requirements from Level 1 through Level 4
  • Maintain requirements traceability throughout the system lifecycle
  • Develop and execute system verification and validation strategies
  • Coordinate with design and test engineering teams to ensure successful system qualification
  • Support hardware and software system integration and acceptance testing
  • Ensure system performance and non-performance requirements are achieved
  • Participate in Configuration Control Boards (CCBs)
  • Lead technical troubleshooting and system development activities
  • Collaborate with customer scientists, engineers, and program management
  • Present technical status through written reports and presentations
  • Support continuous process improvement initiatives
  • Travel domestically up to 10% as needed

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizen
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
  • 10+ years of relevant experience

OR 7+ years with an advanced STEM degree

OR 14 years of related experience without a degree

  • Experience with systems engineering throughout the development lifecycle
  • Requirements analysis and decomposition experience
  • Experience maintaining requirements traceability
  • Experience with configuration management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
