Sutphen Corporation, founded in 1890, is a manufacturer of Emergency Fire Trucks. The oldest continuously family owned and operated fire apparatus manufacturer in the country.

With a mission to build the safest, most reliable Fire Trucks in the world, Sutphen has manufactured emergency fire apparatus for fire departments all over the country.

Our Service Center in Urbana, Ohio is expanding our workforce, and we are seeking a Fire Truck Service Technician to join our amazing team! If you are an ASE certified mechanic or a Diesel Technician, this job could be a great fit for you!

 Essential Job Duties
•    Diagnose, rebuilds and repairs vehicles and equipment.
•    Organizes, tests, and maintains an inventory of parts needed to facilitate repairs.
•    Performs inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
•    Properly spec, installs, removes, and terminates various types of wiring
•    Performs both in house and road service repairs.
•    Maintains an orderly and safe work environment.
•    Prepares and maintains records and reports.
•    Completes work in a timely and efficient manner, adhering to customary work practices and completion times.
•    Performs related duties as required and as directed.


 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 
•    Methods, materials, tools and techniques used in vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance.
•    Diagnosing mechanical problems and performing repairs.
•    Safety practices and procedures.
•    Mechanical design and fabrication.
•    Knowledge of occupational safety and health policies and procedures related to vehicle maintenance and repair.
•    Electrical systems, including computerized induction/ignition systems.
•    Use of power and hand tools.
•    Use of diagnostic equipment.
•    Welding- MIG/TIG/Other.
•    Operation of vehicles and equipment for diagnostic purposes.
•    Work varying shifts, weekends and holidays.
•    Diagnose problems and make repairs in the field on a 24-hour basis.
•    Effectively handle lifting of various objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
•    Work extended hours out of doors in a variety of weather conditions.
•    Prepare and maintain records and reports.
•    Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public.
•    Follow written and verbal instructions, including manufacturers’ service specifications.
