Boston Scientific will not offer sponsorship or take over sponsorship of an employment VISA for this position at this time We will consider qualified applicants of all ages who are starting (or restarting) their careers Our R&D engineers are tasked with designing and developing implant products for the Active Implantable Systems (AIS) group. This includes technologies that monitor, support diagnosis and treat irregular heart rhythms, heart failure, and sudden cardiac arrest. AIS provides devices and therapies for a patient's entire continuum of care, from diagnostic to treatment.

This division strives to innovate and create a paradigm shift that can solve unmet clinical needs and change what is possible for patients. Your responsibilities will include: Contribute to the design and development of implantable medical devices that support diagnosis and treatment of cardiac conditions Apply mechanical design principles and CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks) to develop components Conduct hands-on prototyping and testing to validate design performance and reliability Perform statistical data analysis and apply design of experiments (DOE) to optimize product and process outcomes Use tools such as MATLAB, Minitab, and LabVIEW to support modeling, data acquisition, and system evaluation Integrate biomechanics considerations into device design to enhance patient compatibility and therapeutic effectiveness Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure device functionality, safety, and clinical relevance across the continuum of care Bring creativity and problem-solving to engineering challenges that address unmet clinical needs and advance cardiac care innovation Required Qualifications: Working towards Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering; Graduation date by December 2027. Must be able to start internship on May 17th or 24th, 2027 and work for 12 weeks Previous internship experience with Boston Scientific AIS R&D department Must have reliable transportation to/from work
