Job description

Position Summary

The Quality / Infection Control Nurse is responsible for establishing, monitoring, and updating the hospital’s Quality Compliance Program and Infection Prevention Program. This position requires a strong understanding of applicable federal, state, and regulatory standards, including reporting requirements and survey preparedness.

The coordinator leads data collection, analysis, and reporting of quality and infection control activities, coordinates performance improvement (PI) initiatives, supports interdisciplinary teams, and ensures accurate and timely submission of required reports through systems such as NHSN and QualityNet.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish, monitor, and maintain the facility’s quality and infection control compliance programs.

  • Demonstrate working knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and accreditation standards.

  • Educate facility staff, contractors, and external partners on quality and infection control requirements.

  • Coordinate data collection and documentation related to quality improvement, risk monitoring, and PI initiatives.

  • Prepare quality and risk management logs and reports in accordance with facility and regulatory standards.

  • Coordinate and compile quality data from all departments to ensure compliance with state, federal, and accreditation requirements.

  • Lead survey readiness activities, including internal audits and mock surveys, as directed by hospital leadership.

  • Conduct monthly Performance Improvement (PI) meetings to review quality and infection control data.

  • Ensure all quality and infection control measures are reported accurately and timely through NHSN and QualityNet.

  • Oversee the hospital’s infection prevention plan, including surveillance, monitoring at-risk patients, and tracking infectious processes.

  • Calculate, analyze, and present infection control rates, trends, and supporting data.

  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement across the organization.

Education and Experience
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensed in the State of Mississippi (required).

  • Experience in Quality/Compliance and Infection Control strongly preferred.

  • Prior experience in healthcare quality, regulatory compliance, or infection prevention is a plus.
