Job description

Gaskins + LeCraw and BHC have joined the Pape-Dawson family!
Pape-Dawson is seeking a Project Surveyor II for their Kansas City office. This position oversees and manages land surveying projects of varying complexity while mentoring junior staff and maintaining high-quality standards.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead, supervise, and coordinate activities of field and office staff assigned to complex land surveying projects.
  • Collaborate with engineering staff, clients, and stakeholders to ensure project success.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to Survey Technicians and SITs.
  • Manage project schedules and ensure alignment with budgets and client expectations.
  • Perform advanced calculations, prepare field packages, and delegate tasks to team members.
  • Process and review acquired field data, ensuring accuracy in plats of survey and Metes and Bounds descriptions.
  • Conduct quality control reviews of work prepared by other team members.
  • Resolve challenging property boundaries and oversee related construction issues.
  • Sign and seal completed survey deliverables, including drawings, legal descriptions, and reports.

Qualifications:
  • Must be a Licensed Professional Surveyor (LPS) in Kansas and Missouri. A plus if licensed in adjoining states (OK, AR, NE, CO).
  • 4+ years of experience as a Licensed Professional Surveyor.
  • Proficiency with ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, topographic surveys for design, and construction staking.
  • Must have experience with Leica and/or Trimble.
  • Must have experience with and been through a Planning Commission process for projects.
  • Must be aware of and how to deal with Project Insurance issues.
  • Strong leadership, research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with managing project budgets, schedules, and invoicing.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle complex issues and provide solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Dependable and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm with overtime as needed.
