From highways and roadways to complex construction projects, our reputation has been built on quality workmanship, safety and strong relationships with our customers and the communities we work in.   The GPS Machine Control & Survey Coordinator supports earthworks are road construction operations by operating heavy equipment and using Trimble GPS machine control systems. This role works closely with field crews on grading, machine control set up and daily construction activities on site. We are looking for a motivated and dependable individual with equipment operating experience, mechanical aptitude and an interest in construction technology. The successful candidate will be willing to learn, work well in a team environment and adapt to changing project needs in the field. Job ResponsibilitiesOperate in a team setting with a positive attitude and character of a strong leaderUse Trimble GPS machine control to oversee grading, site layout and surveying activitiesSet up, troubleshoot and maintain GPS/survey control equipment in the fieldMaintain survey and machine control equipment inventory; keep software updates currentPromote and support internal growth initiative of increased use of machine controlLiaise with all BPL survey staff to have reliable consistency of machine control infrastructureReview and modify third party surface files to ensure field operations are productiveAbility to field-fit to accommodate constructability when discrepancies ariseOversee material and pay quantity checks based on field survey measurementsUpload and maintain project files, surfaces and machine control data to facilitate field operationsPerform grade checks and verify elevationsRead and interpret construction drawings, grading plans and site layoutsWork closely with supervisors, operators and field crews throughout daily operationsProficiency in drone-based survey and associated requirements/regulations of drone pilotingFollow all company safety policies and proceduresPerform other duties to support field operationsQualificationsExperience supporting heavy equipment in construction, earthworks or roadbuilding preferred, specifically pertaining to machine control and survey softwareExperience with Trimble machine control systems, GPS equipment or related construction technology considered an assetAbility to train survey and field operations staff on all matters pertaining to machine controlDiploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Geomatics, Surveying Technology or related fieldEquivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will be consideredMechanically inclined and interested in construction technologyAbility to work independently and in team environmentsStrong problem solving and communication skillsWillingness to learnValid Class 5 Driver's License What We Offer Competitive wages based on experienceBenefitsProfit sharingCompany Share Ownership ProgramOngoing training and developmentOpportunities for advancementSteady work during the construction seasonMany of our leaders started in field or entry level roles and we believe strongly in promoting from within.
