Job description

Ledcor is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Surveyor to support our operations on a notable project just outside Fort McMurray, Alberta. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing precise field measurements, supporting construction and maintenance projects, and ensuring all survey data is accurate and compliant with project requirements.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform field survey requests, take precise measurements, and set up / configure survey instruments
  • Interpret and extrapolate surveying data from construction and design drawings
  • Perform layout, grade checks, and as-built surveys for construction activities
  • Collaborate and work closely with construction crews and ensure clear, effective communication
  • Install survey stake locations, including construction sites, pile locations, battered piles, pile cut-offs, and site grading
  • Set anchor bolts and formwork locations alongside civil crews
  • Prepare accurate surveying notes and field sketches
  • Provide ongoing guidance and mentorship to Survey Assistants
  • Work in a busy site environment around heavy equipment and foot traffic
  • Actively participate and engage in Ledcor's safety program
  • Be a leader of both safety and production for the team by ensuring compliance with all company, clients, and legislated safety policies and procedures

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3- 5 years of field surveying experience
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a diploma in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or related fields of education
  • Ability to demonstrate a strong technical background in surveying
  • Attention to detail with the ability to recognize & effectively communicate discrepancies
  • Proficiency with Trimble robotic total stations and Trimble GPS equipment and strong familiarity with Trimble Access
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug & alcohol testing
  • Hold a valid Class 5 drivers license and provide a clean 3-year drivers record
  • CSO/BSO and WHMIS 2015 (training will be provided)
  • Strong understanding of construction practices and site layout

Work Conditions

  • 14 days on, 7 days off, working 10-12 hour days. Overtime rates apply after 8 hours worked per day
