In roles like sales managers, real estate brokers, commercial pilots, and certain skilled trades such as elevator installers or power plant operators, individuals can earn $200,000 or more annually without a college degree. Success in these professions often depends on experience, certifications, or licensing, rather than formal education.

What are the typical responsibilities and challenges faced by employees working at a surplus retail store like Surplus Unlimited?

Employees at surplus retail stores such as Surplus Unlimited often handle a wide range of tasks, including inventory management, customer service, and merchandising. A common challenge is keeping up with the constantly changing inventory, as surplus stock can be unpredictable and diverse. Team members must be adaptable and knowledgeable about various products to assist customers effectively. Collaboration is key, as staff often work together to organize new shipments, maintain store displays, and ensure a smooth shopping experience for customers.

Surplus Unlimited, as a job role, does not track national employment data. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the economy added or lost jobs based on various factors, but specific monthly figures like a 33,000 job loss are reported in official labor reports, not by individual job titles. Job seekers should consult these reports for accurate information on employment changes.

Building a large customer base, leveraging online platforms, and understanding market demand are key to reaching high monthly earnings without a formal degree.

What is Surplus Unlimited?

Surplus Unlimited is typically a business or store that specializes in selling overstock, discontinued, or excess inventory items at discounted prices. These items can include a wide range of products such as tools, hardware, electronics, household goods, and more. Surplus Unlimited stores are popular among bargain hunters and individuals looking for unique or hard-to-find items at lower costs. The inventory often changes frequently, so customers may find different deals each time they visit. Some Surplus Unlimited stores also offer online shopping options for added convenience.

What jobs pay $10,000 a month without a degree?

High-paying jobs that can reach $10,000 a month without a degree include roles such as sales managers, real estate brokers, commercial pilots, and skilled trades like electricians or plumbers. About Ck Specialty Insurance Associates

Ck Specialty Insurance Associates is a rapidly growing, independently owned wholesale insurance brokerage committed to providing innovative and customized insurance solutions to retail agents and brokers across the country. Founded with a strong entrepreneurial spirit, Ck Specialty was built on the foundation of speed, service, and partnership with our retail agents. Traits that remain at the core of everything we do.

Since our inception in 1998, we have grown into a respected name in the Excess & Surplus (E&S) marketplace. We focus on a wide range of commercial and personal lines, offering access to top-rated carriers and niche products that meet the unique needs of todayโ€™s insurance buyers.

At Ck Specialty, we operate with a 120% mentality; always going above and beyond in how we serve our clients, partners, and each other. We value precision, reliability, organization, and speed, which is why our team lives by the acronym PROS. Weโ€™re a company for self-starters, problem-solvers, and professionals who want to be part of something fast-moving and impactful.

Overview

We are seeking a motivated, relationship-driven Associate Producer to join our growing wholesale insurance team. This role is designed for individuals currently working in assistant broker, broker support, or production support roles at larger wholesale firms who are ready to take the next step into a true production position.

We are specifically looking for candidates with exposure to wholesale insurance environments who want to transition from supporting producers to becoming a producer themselves.

This role will focus on building broker relationships, developing submission flow, and growing a book of business across West Coast markets.

What Youโ€™ll Do

  • Support and eventually lead the development of a new wholesale insurance business
  • Work closely with retail agents, brokers, and carrier partners to structure submissions
  • Assist senior producers while learning underwriting appetite, markets, and placement strategy
  • Build and maintain relationships with West Coast brokers and retail agencies
  • Drive new business submissions and follow-ups with increasing independence over time
  • Learn negotiation, pricing strategy, and market placement techniques
  • Transition from support role to active production responsibility

Requirements

What Weโ€™re Looking For

  • Current experience in a wholesale insurance brokerage or MGA environment strongly preferred
  • Background as a broker assistant, associate broker, or production support role
  • Exposure to submissions, quoting, or carrier placement workflows
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a โ€œproducer mindsetโ€
  • Ambition to move into a full production role (not a long-term support position)
  • Ability to build relationships and manage follow-through
  • West Coast market familiarity preferred (CA, WA, OR, AZ exposure a plus)

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Working at a larger wholesale firm (e.g., similar to Cochran & Co. type environment)
  • Currently supporting producers but not yet leading production
  • Wants a clear path into revenue production and book ownership
  • Comfortable with outbound communication and relationship building

Benefits

This is a true producer development pathway, not a back-office support role. You will be given the opportunity to transition into full production responsibility while learning directly from experienced producers and gaining exposure to West Coast wholesale markets.

Additional Benefits

  • CK Specialty covers 100% of employee-only premiums for select medical, dental, and vision plan options.
  • Fully remote work environment.
  • No-cost membership for One Medical virtual primary care for all dependents for select plan options.
  • 12 complimentary virtual therapy sessions and unlimited messaging support through Talkspace.
  • Discounts on family planning and fertility services through Kindbody for select plan options.

Benefits:

  • 401(k) matching
  • Dental insurance
  • Health insurance
  • Paid time off
  • Vision insurance
