What is a surgical technologist?

Surgical technologists, also known as scrub techs or operating room technicians, are allied health professionals who assist in surgical operations. They work under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, or other surgical personnel to ensure that the operating room is safe, sterile, and well-organized. Their duties include preparing surgical instruments and equipment, maintaining sterile conditions, passing instruments to surgeons during procedures, and helping with post-operative clean-up. Surgical technologists play a crucial role in preventing infections and ensuring that surgeries run smoothly and efficiently.

What are some common challenges surgical technologists face during procedures, and how can they be addressed?

Surgical technologists often encounter challenges such as maintaining a sterile field under pressure, quickly adapting to unexpected changes during surgery, and effectively communicating with the surgical team.
