Job Title

Performs a variety of technical duties to assist in preparing and caring for perioperative patients. Prepares patient skin for surgery in accordance with Infirmary Health's standards. Positions patients according to type of surgery. Maintains aseptic techniques. Cleans, prepares, stores, distributes, and maintains various supplies, equipment, and instruments to assure efficiency operation and patient safety in the operating room. Services as a resource to other department staff.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

One of the following:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology
  • 15 or more years' experience working as a Surgical Tech
  • Grandfathered into Surgical Tech (911005) prior to 02/12/2017

Good communications skills

Record keeping skills sufficient to manage required documentation

Working knowledge of OR instruments, equipment, and procedures

Licensure, Registration, Certification:

BLS

One of the following:

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
  • For incumbents grandfathered into Surgical Tech (911005) position prior to 02/12/2017, current certification as a Tech in Surgery โ€“ Certified (TS-C) from National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
