Surgical Tech

Job Title: Surgical Tech

Profession: Surgical Services

Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Hours (06:40 - 19:10)

Experience: Minimum two years of scrub experience required

License: BLS required - AHA ONLY

Certifications: CST preferred

Must-Have: Successfully completed a surgical technologist program or two years of experience in the Surgical Technologist role may be considered in lieu of completing a program.

Description: Day/evening shifts available, with 12-hour shifts from 06:40 to 19:10, every Saturday and Sunday. No call responsibilities are required. If a holiday falls on the weekend, the candidate will be expected to work on that holiday. The first week of orientation consists of five shifts from 06:40 to 15:10, followed by regular scheduling. Candidates who can work every Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday (3x12 or 4x12 shifts) are also considered. The role primarily involves GU/GYN/General and transplant cases. The ability to perform a variety of surgical procedures is essential, including abdominal hysterectomies, appendectomies, and more. Strong skills in patient safety and support during surgery are paramount. The surgical technologist prepares the operating room prior to surgery and assists the surgeon during the procedure. Knowledge and skills required to effectively care for patients of all age groups, from neonates to geriatrics, are necessary. Experience in trauma level I environments is required, particularly with complex surgeries. Candidates must ensure compliance with sterilization and disinfection protocols. The position requires the ability to handle various instruments and assist in specialized surgical procedures. Adherence to universal protocol and safety guidelines is critical.
