Why This Med Surg RN Role?

Join a high-acuity Med Surg / General Surgery team at George Washington University Hospital, a 395‐bed academic medical center in the heart of downtown Washington, DC. This is a night-shift Med Surg RN role supporting pre‐ and post‐operative patients across a wide variety of surgical specialties, offering strong clinical exposure and long-term growth opportunities.

This role is ideal for RNs who enjoy variety, collaboration, and developing advanced surgical nursing skills in a well-supported hospital environment.

Unit Overview

  • Pre‐ and post‐operative care with bariatric surgery designation (Center of Excellence)
  • Patient populations include:
    • Laparoscopic & minimally invasive procedures
    • Bariatric surgery
    • Tracheostomies
    • Kidney & liver transplants
    • Trauma and complex surgical cases
  • Opportunity to develop skills across multiple surgical specialties

  • Provide safe, high-quality, patient‐centered nursing care
  • Collaborate with physicians, APPs, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Support pre‐op and post‐op patients through recovery

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Current RN License in good standing with state licensing board.
  • Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program.
  • Prefer one year full time or three years part time experience in acute care setting.
  • BLS certification
