Imagine a surgical experience that blends cutting-edge technology with comfort and healing. Our brand-new Surgical Pavilion will set a new standard for patient care, featuring:
  • Eight advanced operating rooms, including a hybrid OR for simultaneous imaging and surgery
  • Two procedure rooms for minimally invasive interventions
  • A 24-room intensive care unit with family-friendly spaces and a serene balcony
  • A streamlined patient journey, from check-in to recovery, complete with a modern discharge lounge

This isn't just an expansion-it's a revolution in surgical care, designed to deliver precision, compassion, and peace of mind for patients and families alike.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Participates as member of the surgical team under direct supervision of an RN/Charge Nurse or Clinical Manager. Functions in the role of scrub/assist person and assisting physician and/or RN. Responsible for direct and indirect care of patients. Assists with maintenance, care of instruments, supplies and equipment according to the manufacturers' instructions, standards of infection prevention, and institutional policies/procedures. Practices appropriate initiation and maintenance of sponge, needle and miscellaneous item counts and equipment according to policy.
Decontaminates, cleans, and cares for operating room equipment utilizing clean/sterile technique used in a procedural setting. Identifies, gathers, and prepares instrument and equipment and specialty items for all procedures in a timely manner according to preference card. Acknowledges physiologic needs for the patient (size of equipment, maintenance of body temperature and patient safety). May require on call duty. Performs other duties as assigned.
Based on experience, Hoag does have a career ladder for Surgery Technologists ranging from level 1 - 4

  • 8 hour, 10 hour, and 12 hour shifts are available, subject to specific departments

Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • Successful completion of an accredited Surgical Scrub Technician program or equivalent military medical core training (not required for GI Lab)
  • Solid computer technical skills required, including proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) and additional Organizational systems (Affinity, SMS, and PACS)
  • A minimum of 1-year recent OR experience preferred
  • Qualified bilingual or multilingual candidates preferred
