Job description

Assistant/Associate/Full Professor Large Animal Surgery – Northeast #9256

Our client is a College of Veterinary Medicine located in the Northeast USA and is looking for a self-directed, innovative, and motivated candidate for a full-time, clinical-track or tenure-track faculty position in Large Animal Surgery (predominantly equine surgery).

The position may be filled as Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. Successful candidates will be engaged in the College’s educational, research, and service activities. Primary responsibilities will include clinical and didactic teaching in the equine medicine course and equine laboratories. No clinical duty is expected, but there may be opportunities with affiliate practices. Successful candidates are expected to promote the College’s overall mission of enhancing veterinary medical education through a commitment to teaching, academic excellence, and service to a variety of stakeholders.

Active engagement in curriculum development, identification or creation of innovative learning resources, and committee service participation (such as admissions, curriculum, research, etc.) is expected of both clinical and tenure-track faculty. All tenure-track faculty contribute to the overall research and scholarly goals of the College of Veterinary Medicine and are expected to develop independent or collaborative research in the field of Large Animal Surgery within and outside of the College, which may include working with College partners/affiliate veterinary hospitals.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a DVM or equivalent degree and expertise in large animal surgery/equine surgery. Specialty board certification/eligibility by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS LA) or equivalent is preferred. Advanced training in large animal/equine surgery and or large animal surgery/equine surgery research with an MS or PhD is preferred. The ideal candidate should have working knowledge of curricular design and implementation. The candidate will be the course director of the large animal surgery/equine surgery course.
