Innovation is the heart of Brunswick. See how your contributions will help transform vision into reality:

Position Overview:

As a Digital Surface Modeler on the Industrial Design team, you will be responsible for developing both conceptual and productionready CAD surface models that become visible, customerfacing products. This role partners closely with Mercury Marine's Engineering, Product Integration, and Manufacturing team members to ensure surfaces meet aesthetic, functional, and manufacturing requirements while supporting Mercury Marine's premium brand and performance expectations. You will be required to utilize your unique skillsets to analyze and blend the inputs of form, proportion, and functional requirements into highly refined three-dimensional digital models for marine propulsion systems, controls and associated components.

At Brunswick, we have passion for our work and a distinct ability to deliver.

Essential Functions:

  • Create both Conceptual and Class-A surface geometry for customer-facing marine systems, including exterior outboard cowlings, peripheral covers, touchpoint-critical components, marine control systems, or hardware related to exterior displays.

  • Develop Conceptual surface geometry when applicable to programs that require surface construction exploration, less defined constraints, and sensitivity to rapid iterations. Display high proficiency by interpreting 2D sketches and renderings, clay models, or foam mockups. Digital models may also be based on modifications to existing 3D surface models.

  • Translating Industrial Design and Engineering criteria inputs into highquality CAD surfaces that meet requirements for digital craftsmanship standards on fit and finish. Display high technical proficiency ensuring G2/G3 surface continuity, curvature control, highlight quality, and draftready geometry that can be turned into high fidelity prototypes or used downstream into production-intent Class-A surface data.

  • Maintain surface integrity through design changes and feedback loops from Engineering criteria, packaging requirements, tooling/molding requirements, specific CFD analysis feedback, and DFM or Supplier-based feedback loops.

  • Balance multiple CAD projects, Data management responsibilities, and understanding engineering criteria effectively, with a strong focus on meeting program deadlines.

  • Participate in Design reviews, Engineering reviews milestone gates, and overall technical program reviews.

Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however, others can be developed along the way.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Transportation Design or Product Design

  • 5 years of experience in Digital Surfacing, both Conceptual and Class-A surface models.

  • Exceptionally strong proficiency with Autodesk Alias software

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating Surfacing abilities, knowledge of design fundamentals integral to proper surface execution including proportions, volumes/masses and clean surface construction

  • Proficiency in additional tools such as KeyShot, Adobe Creative Suite

  • Aware of the most recent digital surface modelling techniques

This position is eligible to participate in Brunswick's comprehensive and high-quality benefits offerings, including medical, dental, vision, paid vacation, 401k (up to 4% match), Health Savings Account (with company contribution), wellbeing program, product purchase discounts and much more.
