Job description

Graphic Designer – Consumer Products & Stationery

Location: Nashville, TN | Hybrid – Onsite approximately 1x/week

Employment Type: Long-Term Contract

Schedule: Part-Time to Start | Opportunity to Ramp to 40 Hours/Week

The Opportunity

We’re partnering with an established consumer products and stationery brand to find a talented Graphic Designer with a passion for creating beautiful, trend-forward physical products.

This company creates stationery, paper goods, gifting, and lifestyle products sold through some of the nation’s largest retailers, including Target, Walmart, Costco, Whole Foods, and other major retail partners.

This is a unique long-term contract opportunity for a designer looking for stability while still getting to do highly creative, hands-on work. The engagement will begin part-time with several initial projects and has the opportunity to ramp up to 40 hours per week.

We’re specifically looking for a designer who understands the difference between designing a marketing piece and designing something a consumer will actually pick up, purchase, gift, and use.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Design original graphics and artwork for physical consumer products
  • Create designs for products such as stationery, journals, planners, greeting cards, gift wrap, paper goods, and giftable items
  • Develop original patterns, illustrations, typography, and print concepts
  • Translate creative concepts and trends into commercially viable products
  • Design with the end consumer and retail environment in mind
  • Collaborate with the creative team to develop new product concepts and collections
  • Apply artwork and design concepts across multiple physical product formats
  • Participate in approximately one onsite creative/team meeting per week in Nashville

What We're Looking For

  • Professional Graphic Design experience with a strong focus on physical consumer products
  • Previous experience within CPG, stationery, gifting, paper goods, lifestyle products, or a similar retail product category
  • A portfolio demonstrating finished physical products, not solely digital or marketing work
  • Exceptional typography skills
  • Strong illustration capabilities
  • Strong understanding of pattern and surface design
  • Experience creating products designed for mass-market or national retail
  • Ability to balance strong creative instincts with commercial and consumer trends
  • Ability to work independently in a contract environment and manage multiple creative projects

Portfolio Requirements

A portfolio is required for consideration.

We would especially love to see examples of:

  • Stationery and paper goods
  • Journals and planners
  • Greeting cards
  • Gift wrap
  • Giftable consumer products
  • Original illustration
  • Typography / lettering
  • Repeat patterns and surface design
  • Seasonal collections
  • Finished products that have been manufactured and sold at retail

Please note: Candidates whose experience is primarily in UX/UI, web design, social media graphics, presentations, or corporate marketing collateral without physical product design experience will not be the right fit for this opportunity.
