Description:

The Surface Mount Technician (SMT) plays a critical role in the electronic assembly process, supporting the setup, operation, and optimization of SMT equipment to ensure efficient production and superior product quality. The ideal candidates will have a strong knowledge of best practices in the electronic assembly environment and demonstrate a high level of attention to detail, organization, and technical aptitude. We are seeking highly motivated, well-organized individuals to join this dynamic, versatile, and growing business. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and maintain a strong commitment to quality, safety, and operational excellence.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate general knowledge of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) processes and equipment operation within a production environment.
  • Operate and support programming of Mydata surface mount equipment; prior experience is a plus.
  • Utilize DEK stencil printers effectively; prior hands-on experience is preferred.
  • Support reflows oven operations, including profile setup and generation to ensure proper soldering quality.
  • Perform quality inspections to verify assembly accuracy and compliance with applicable standards; prior inspection experience is a plus.
  • Apply knowledge of IPC-A-610 or J-STD standards; certification is considered a plus.
  • Exhibit strong aptitude for both electronic and mechanical assembly practices.
  • Interpret and work from structured Bills of Materials (BOMs), assembly drawings, and kit identification processes.
  • Demonstrate agility and flexibility in managing multiple projects and shifting production priorities.
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team environment.
  • Meet tight production deadlines while maintaining a high level of quality and accuracy.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Maintain flexibility with scheduling to support production needs.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles where applicable; experience is a plus.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in PCB assembly, particularly within a production or manufacturing environment.
  • IPC-A-610 or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
  • Strong proficiency in both through-hole and surface mount soldering techniques.
  • Familiarity with electronic components, circuit boards, and ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) safety procedures.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve soldering and assembly-related issues effectively and efficiently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for accurate reporting and documentation of work.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, as well as independently when required.
