Job description

  • Handle routine underwriting responsibilities for contract and commercial surety
  • Analyze financial and account data for new, existing, and renewal business
  • Request and gather financial information on assigned accounts
  • Prepare bond renewals and determine whether bonds should be canceled
  • Maintain agency relationships and provide service and support
  • Underwrite low-value bonds and renewals as authorized
  • Direct Bond Underwriting Assistants in bond processing
  • Provide recommendations to Branch and Home Office reports on assigned accounts and agents
  • Rate and review bonds for premium and classification accuracy
  • Ensure files are accurate, complete, and properly documented
  • Serve as the primary service contact and visit assigned agents
  • Communicate account knowledge to Branch and Home Office personnel
  • Prioritize workflow and meet deadlines
  • Interface with regional underwriters, home office personnel, agents, and principals
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Mathematics, Business, or related, with at least 7 years’ experience in surety or equivalent
  • Equivalent qualification defined as 11 years of relevant finance experience
  • Thorough knowledge of the Surety industry
  • Analytical skillset, including a minimum of 5 years working in the Surety industry
  • Ability to apply loss development and advanced loss analysis concepts to price risks
  • Ability to utilize coverage features, deductibles, or reinsurance on individual risks
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Must not require visa sponsorship now or in the future
  • AFSB industry designations preferred
  • Experience with contract and commercial surety preferred
