Deneen Pottery is a 50-year-old family-owned and operated company responsible for making the highest quality handmade mugs on the planet with an eco-friendly approach. We are a diverse staff of 90+, living our core values of Attitude, Creativity, Teamwork, and Trust focused on brightening the day of millions across the country as they reach for their favorite mug every morning. Our green initiatives include installing a 399-rooftop solar array and setting up a waste reduction program that includes company-wide composting. We believe that work should be sustainable, rewarding, and (dare we say it) even fun sometimes. Monthly updates are given by our president, and we have a self-funding profit-sharing program with quarterly payouts.


Deneen Pottery is looking for a Production Helper to join our team.


Key Responsibilities:


QUALITY CHECK PRODUCT / QUALITY CONTROL - Review product to make sure style, handle, medallion, color, and coverage is correct and mugs meet quality standards. Notify Lead if there are issues that cannot be corrected.


SHOT GLASSES - Ensure shot glass mold is in working order. Notify Mold Shop Lead if a new mold is needed. Press and trim shot glasses per work order in a timely manner based on projected ship date of work orders. Deliver shot glasses to Medallion Appliers or apply medallions as needed per direction of Lead.


BACKUP TO EXTRUDING HANDLES - Per Green Room Lead's direction prepare handle boards for the next few days' production. Consistently label, wrap, and place on carts for the handle appliers so they are viable to use.


BACKUP TO APPLY HANDLES & MEDALLIONS - Following standard work, apply handles and/or medallions to the mugs within quality specifications and tools available. Stamp the bottom of the mug and clean mugs when necessary. Consistently follow special instructions for work orders. Accurately enter completed work orders into File Maker. Review work order and confirm correct mugs, handles, and medallions.


BACKUP TO FINISHING/SHIPPING - Assist with finishing duties as assigned in Paint, Glaze, Scrubbing, and Shipping Departments. Review Work orders to mugs and process correctly and within quality standards. Help keep the shipping area clean and organized. Help with miscellaneous duties such as applying stickers, cycle counting product, checking in re-fires, and preparing pallets.


BACKUP TO KILN ROOM - Move greenware carts daily into Kiln room, Greenroom, and Hallway to keep rush orders and the oldest carts closest to the bisque kilns for efficient loading. Help stack and unstack bisque kilns if needed. Stack and Unstack glaze kilns by mandatory start time. Unload, check mugs for defects and evaluate if we can touch-up/re-fire. Enter work orders into File Maker for kiln reporting. Sign numbers on mug bottoms as needed.

This is an entry-level position; prior experience is a plus. Must have hand and eye coordination. Accuracy and attention to detail is required. Must be able to enter daily production information into the computer. A high school diploma or GED is a plus.
