Description Senior Salesforce Application Developer This recruitment is open to Washington residents and those residing on the ID/WA and OR/WA borders. The Opportunity As the Senior Salesforce Application Developer, you will design, develop, and maintain enterprise applications that support some of the Washington State Department of Health's most critical public health and regulatory systems. Working within the Office of Innovation & Technology's Applications and Data Services (ADS) unit, you'll design and implement secure, scalable solutions using Salesforce, .NET, Azure, and other modern technologies

You'll also provide technical leadership by mentoring developers, guiding solution design, and helping deliver complex projects from concept through implementation. This role serves as a senior technical expert and trusted advisor, partnering with business teams and IT colleagues to modernize applications, integrate new technologies, improve data management, and solve complex technical challenges. You'll have the opportunity to shape application architecture, strengthen development practices, and influence technology decisions that support the agency's long-term goals.

The systems you develop and maintain enable essential public health programs, licensing, regulatory oversight, and data-driven decision making across Washington. Your work helps ensure secure, reliable technology that supports public health services and protects the people who rely on them every day. Key Responsibilities Include: Design, develop, and maintain secure, enterprise-scale applications using Salesforce, .NET, Azure, and related technologies

Lead application architecture, system integrations, and modernization efforts that improve performance, security, and long-term sustainability. Design and maintain databases, data integrations, ETL processes, dashboards, and reporting solutions that support agency operations and decision making. Provide technical leadership by mentoring developers, conducting code reviews, assigning technical work, and promoting development standards and best practices.

Manage complex application implementations by developing project plans, coordinating technical resources, tracking progress, and communicating with stakeholders. Investigate and resolve complex application, database, and system issues while identifying innovative solutions to evolving business and technology needs. Ensure applications meet security, accessibility, quality assurance, and software development lifecycle standards through testing, documentation, and continuous improvement.

Collaborate with business partners, project teams, and technology leaders to deliver reliable solutions that support critical public health systems. Option 1: Eleven (11) years of progressive professional experience in one or more of the following IT disciplines: consulting, analyzing, designing, programming, installing and/or maintaining computer software applications. Option 2: An Associate's degree or higher in Information Technology program or a closely related field AND Nine (9) years of progressive professional experience in one or more of the following IT disciplines: consulting, analyzing, designing, programming, installing and/or maintaining computer software applications. Option 3: A Bachelor's degree or higher in Information Technology program or a closely related field AND Seven (7) years of progressive professional experience in one or more of the following IT disciplines: consulting, analyzing, designing, programming, installing and/or maintaining computer software applications.

Additional years of experience can substitute for education on a one-for-one basis. Additional Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience At least two (2) years of professional experience in maintaining or programming on the Salesforce platform (PaaS) including front-end interfaces (i.e. Lightning Web Components) and back-end logic (i.e

Apex and SOQL). At least five (5) years of professional experience in the software development field. Experience must include: Developing enterprise class, highly secure, and object-oriented web-based application system.

Experience with integration technologies -API, Restful services, SFTP, etc. Experience with programming technologies such as .NET (ASP.Net, MVC, Core), Java/JSP, XML/JSON, React.js, Angular, CSS, JavaScript, HTML, Ajax, jQuery, etc. Experience with Agile development and methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban Ability to clearly communicate concepts and ideas to a variety of audiences both verbally and in writing
