Summary (Position Description): The Supply Chain Manager will have supervisory responsibility for strategic and operational buyers and warehousing. This position is responsible for material availability, material quality and material cost effectiveness. Furthermore, the Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for all continuous improvement initiatives and activities in the which includes Warehouse, Purchasing, and Incoming inspection.

Reports To: VP of Operation North America

Status: Full time, Salary Exempt

Duties & Tasks:

  • Responsible to source parts for new products and strategically re-source parts when appropriate (BOM and Non BOM)
  • Work with all department scheduling teams in order to coordinating all your functions to maximize production run to delivery date and parts availability.
  • Create supplier information packages & generate future demands. If required, coordinated with several inter-or cross company departments. Develop policies to increase efficiency through the supply chain while ensuring quality and safety; implements subsequent changes to the process.
  • Market analysis, evaluation, and comparison of potential suppliers from different perspectives on a national and international basis always considering company standards, confidentiality agreements and legal laws. Provide feedback to Engineering in order to optimize specifications.
  • Lead negotiations for capital equipment as well as negotiates prices for raw material and delivery with suppliers and vendors by determine the most cost-effective solutions for BITZER. Take sourcing decisions and formalize them also legally in the best interest of BITZER.
  • Set up Supplier and Purchasing Master Data in system then define, implement, and maintain disposition methodologies and master data. Maintain Master Data Accuracy. Coordinate with suppliers or finance department.
  • Accompany and develop supplier in start-up phase and coordinate internal support.
  • Coordinate Phase in / Phase out of inventories – minimizing scrapping cost.
  • Monitors performance of suppliers, assessing their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements; identifies and qualifies new suppliers in collaboration with other departments.
  • Perform regular follow-ups to review and update supplier agreements. Improve and optimize supply chain by making sure agreements, sourcing strategies, supplier management in coordination with the global sourcing teams – to maximize customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborates with other departments and stakeholders to identify and maintain resources needed to establish and provide and effective supply chain.
  • Coordinate and clarify issues with suppliers, involving other departments if necessary and take all vita counteractions if deviations occur. Monitor supplier performance (Supplier Scorecard)
  • Determine demands and place orders based on information provided by inventory system by creating purchase orders and monitor supplier.
  • Develops and maintains detailed inventories of materials and supplies located in the company, at sites and in the warehouse. Maintains required quantity of supplies and materials to optimize production.
  • Directs and coordinates global supply chain functions through strategy, resource optimization, profitability maximization, and KPI’s resulting in the maximization of customer satisfaction. Lead supply chain team in exciting “best practices and measuring performance thought agreed upon key performance indicators (KPI’s). Establishes performance metrics for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of factors affecting the supply chain.
  • Develop and lead team to achieve department goals by training, developing and mentor staff (e.g., performance appraisals). Ensure proper staffing levels by managing and coordinating employee paid time off.
  • Properly report and visualize status quo and improvement potentials to next level management.
  • Responsible to identify continuous improvement initiatives and activities by applying lean (BIPROS) principles.
  • Other items as directed by supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • 7+ years progressive experience in International Sourcing and Purchasing

  • Supply agreements.
  • Procurement strategies
  • 4+ years supervisory experience
  • Broad Manufacturing Knowledge especially in precision CNC machining, Castings (Foundries), stamping, assembly processes and principles.
  • Strong Lean Manufacturing & Six Sigma experience preferred.
  • Strong Project Management experience and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, Customer/supplier relations

Work Environment:

  • This job is performed in a professional office as well as production environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; bend; stoop; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Other Duties:

  • Be available for special projects assigned by the VP of Operation North America
  • International Travel required 10-15% of the time.
