Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Position Summary

This role combines digital operations systems engineering with SAP Production Planning to improve manufacturing and supply chain performance across plant and enterprise environments. The position partners with Operations, IT, Engineering, and Supply Chain to design, optimize, and sustain practical system solutions that simplify workflows, strengthen data visibility, improve system reliability, and support faster, smarter decision-making. By connecting shop-floor needs with SAP PP capabilities, automation opportunities, and business intelligence tools, this role drives digital transformation, operational effectiveness, and continuous improvement.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Operations, IT, Engineering, and Supply Chain to deliver system solutions that improve manufacturing and supply chain performance.
  • Maintain deep expertise in SAP PP functionality and align system configurations, workflows, and enhancements with business and production planning requirements.
  • Drive AI, automation, and chatbot initiatives that improve troubleshooting, standardize responses, and simplify user workflows on the production floor.
  • Strengthen system reliability, usability, and performance by collaborating with cross-functional technical teams across SAP and plant systems.
  • Optimize SAP transactions and related processes to reduce complexity, improve user adoption, and support efficient execution.
  • Build and enhance Power BI dashboards and other data visualization tools that improve visibility to performance, downtime, and operational decision-making.
  • Support integration across SAP PP, MM, SD, QM, FICO, MES, and related manufacturing systems to improve end-to-end process execution and data flow.
  • Document system configurations, troubleshoot technical issues, and help govern scalable, sustainable solution design.
  • Coach users and subject matter experts to strengthen system knowledge, adoption, and continuous improvement capability.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements that enhance production scheduling, resource utilization, lead times, and overall operational effectiveness
  • Partner with cross‑functional stakeholders to develop new supply chain capabilities and balance short‑term fixes with long‑term, sustainable improvements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with AI platforms, chatbot development, automation tools, and digital workflow improvement.
  • Understanding of MES systems, Power BI, SAP, Python, SQL, or other scripting and reporting tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, MRP, capacity planning, shop-floor execution, and industrial data flow.
  • Proven analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills in fast-paced manufacturing environments.

The range for this position is $74,072.00 - $101,849.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
