Supply Chain Manager

The Supply Chain Manager will act as anintegral member of the Carson operations leadership team, creating value forDucommun by leading overall direction and execution of supply chain function.Responsibilities include fulfilling all requirements to support cost, qualityand delivery of material to fully achieve annual operating plan, customerservice, optimal inventory turns, and risk mitigation.

Starting as a hardware supply store during the California Gold Rush and eventually assisted in the birth of the aerospace industry in Southern California by providing aircraft aluminum to early aerospace pioneers like Lindbergh, Douglas and Lockheed. 

Today Ducommun is a global provider of innovative manufacturing solutions for customers in the aerospace, defense and industrial markets. We specialize in electronic and structural systems, producing complex products and components for commercial aircraft platforms, mission-critical military and space programs, and sophisticated industrial applications. 

Our Performance Center in Carson, CA is the EngineeredProducts Group site for our Human Machine Interface, Motion Control Device, andRadio Frequency (RF) product lines.  

Job Summary

The following describes in general terms the purpose and scope of the position.

  • Directly lead Supply Chain function, including purchasing, planning, logistics and warehouse. Carries out full-scope responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Establishes, implements and executes procedures and systems for all Supply Chain functions
  • Establish most effective organizational structure and staff responsibilities.Provides for staff training and development.
  • Manage the procurement of all production and non-production items consumed in the plant to achieve short- and long-term business objectives.
  • Production and Inventory planning to ensure annual operating plan, master schedule and on-time customer deliveries are met.
  • Procurement planning: Assessment of procurement workflows, processes, systems/tools used etc. to ensure output meets all performance requirements.
  • Interface closely with all manufacturing support functions, including manufacturing engineering, customer service, production, and quality engineering.
  • Understand the MRP/ERP functions with adherence to operating system integrity to drive integration into the manufacturing process.
  • Manage and review inputs (SIOP, Cycle Counting, physical inventory, profit planning) and controls (Min/Max levels, lead times, etc.) of the ordering process to ensure that inventory levels (Purchase parts, WIP, Finished
  • Goods, Consignment, In Transit, etc.) meet plant, division and plan inventory turns objectives.
  • Analyzes forecast, MRP and cell schedule data to ensure the timely procurement of goods and services in support of customer needs.
  • Identifies potential suppliers of goods and services to support the growing needs of the business.Develop operational strategies and establishes beneficial relationships with selected suppliers.
  • Maintains a corporate database of approved Suppliers in conjunction with the Quality Department.Ensure compliance with established quality standards.
  • Establishes and maintains metrics that measure the performance of the purchasing function and provides for continuous improvement.
  • Manage a team of 15 - 18 direct reports spanning Supply Chain and Shipping & Receiving
