Job description

The Project Manager is responsible for tracking all cost, technical, and quality aspects of a project as defined in individual contracts from proposal development through project closeout. This person serves as the main client POC for a particular project, and manages multidisciplinary teams comprised of mechanical engineering, analysis, electrical engineering and software development resources to ensure project execution to project scope, timing, quality, and budget.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Project Manager is responsible for the following tasks, and others as requested:
  • Manages the technical execution of projects and serves as the main point of contact (POC) to a client during the duration of a project.
  • Utilizes the Product Realization process to manage projects from opportunity to closeout.
  • Assists with or leads proposal development with collaboration from members of the Business Development team.
  • Manages overall project risk and elevates risks to the Management Team as applicable, leads risk mitigation activities were appropriate.
  • Maintains project schedules and coordinates personnel resources, works with Engineering Manager and other Project or Program Managers to develop resource strategies to meet client expectations.
  • Performs role of subject matter expert (SME) in technical areas that align with past performance.
  • Performs supervisory functions including performance reviews and day-to-day management tasks (timecards, etc.) for direct reports.
  • Participates in the support and continual improvement of GS Engineering's Quality Management System.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Technical - Responsible for adherence to contractual scope of projects.
Cost - Executes contractual project deliverables within budget.
Quality - Oversees work of the project team to ensure client expectations are consistently met.
QUALIFICATIONS / ATTRIBUTES:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required (additional coursework in project management preferred).
    • Additional project management experience in a technical services field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in engineering or related field required.
  • Ability to handle ambiguity and open design environments with competing requirements.
  • Must demonstrate superior professional communication skills, organization, self-motivation, and attention to detail.
  • U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident able to obtain a security clearance from the Department of Defense upon hiring.
