Community Hospital is hiring a Supervisor for the Environmental Services Team .
Performs overall routine supervision of the housekeeping and linen functions. Provides support for maintaining the cleanliness of all assigned areas in the hospital to agreed-upon levels. Provides support for staff assigned and does Quality Assurance to be able to evaluate their effectiveness. An example of the ideal employee as measured by our core values and Standards of Behavior. This position is scheduled for at least every other weekend.
Supervisor Roles and Responsibilities:
    1. Assumes overall day-to-day supervision of the Environmental Services linen distribution function and lead staff assigned to the shift.
    2. Interviews and makes recommendations on the selection of Environmental Services employees.
    3. Provides orientation and on-the-job training to new employees, as well as ongoing progress and quality performance.
    4. Assigns duties to housekeeping and linen employees and supervises them in the performance of duties.
    5. Prepares and maintains Environmental Services and linen work schedules.
    6. Communicates written/orally (frequently) to the director about shift activities.
    7. Serves on appropriate committees as assigned.
    8. Evaluates the effectiveness of services available to the various user departments and makes a contribution to the efficacy.
    9. Recommends to the director departmental policies and procedures in accordance with hospital policy.
    10. Able to direct and assign work functions in performing jobs safely and directs the practice of infection control which relates to the Environmental Services department.
    11. Is knowledgeable of the "Haz-Mat" program and can perform those procedures related to the job.
    12. Assumes the duties of the Director in his/her absence.
    13. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • High school diploma required. College degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • One to two years as supervisor in housekeeping or service-related field with high customer/client contact required. such as retail or food service industry. Working knowledge of all housekeeping practices and procedures.
  • Strong work ethic, intense drive, and initiative for quality and customer service.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent listening and empathy skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills both one-on-one and in group situations.
  • Ability to utilize a participative approach to managing staff.
  • Ability to function appropriately under stressful conditions. Good stress management skills are required.
  • Understanding of budgeting processes and awareness of profit and loss concepts.
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills and an ability to prioritize.
  • Will be exposed to chemicals on a constant basis, requiring special clothing or safety equipment.
