Job description

American Traveler is hiring a RN - Cardiac Cath Lab for a 13-week contract requiring at least 1 year of interventional Cath Lab experience and an active AL or compact RN license.
Job Details
• Work in the Cath Lab/CVR unit of a 492-bed hospital that is a Level II Trauma Center, Level III NICU, and Primary Stroke Center,
• Unit has 4 Cath Lab rooms and sees approximately 20-25 patients per day,
• Patient population includes STEMI/NSTEMI, LHC/RHC, CHF, Angina, ACS, Afib, IABP/Impella, CTOs, staged/protected PCI, pericardiocentesis, and temp pacers,
• Exposure to EP, vascular, PE, and hybrid/structural procedures possible though prior experience in these is not required,
• Patients not from the ICU are transferred to the Cardiovascular Recovery (CVR) area post-case,
• Uses Cerner EMR, XPER hemodynamic monitoring system, IntellaSpace PACS, Plum 360 IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing,
• Shift schedule is 12-hour days (0630-1900), working three 12-hour shifts per week for a total of 36 hours,
• Weekend on-call rotation every 4th weekend, Friday end of shift until Monday at 0630,
• Weekday on-call rotation includes approximately 1 call night per week (end of shift until 0630 the next morning) and possibly 1 late shift per week,
• On-call response time is 30 minutes with call rooms available upon request,
• Possibility of floating to Interventional Radiology (IR) or Cardiovascular Recovery (CVR), though prior experience in these areas is not required,
• Schedule cycle runs 3-6 weeks with no guaranteed block scheduling upfront,
Job Requirements
• Active RN license (AL state or compact) required,
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required,
• Minimum 1 year of interventional Cath Lab experience required (diagnostic-only experience not accepted),
• Must be comfortable with groin site management, radial band (VascBand) management, and moderate sedation,
• Ability to titrate drips and knowledge of emergency medications required,
• Must be able to efficiently use defibrillator/pacer and recognize rhythm changes,
• Must know when and what anticoagulants to administer,
• Comfortable addressing ventilator alarms, though vent experience is not required,
• Cerner EMR experience is preferred but not required,
Additional Information
• Responsibilities include direct patient care during Cath Lab procedures, hemodynamic monitoring, and transporting patients to the recovery area,
• Unit support includes a Cath Lab Coordinator/Supervisor, 24/7 Respiratory Therapy, 24/7 Hospitalist, on-call Cardiologist, and RRT/Code Team,
• Travelers with more than one assignment at this facility may be trained to monitor,
• New-to-facility travelers or return travelers absent for 1+ years receive 24 hours of classroom orientation plus 1-3 shifts of unit orientation,
• Holiday coverage required for one major and one minor seasonal holiday per contract,
• Green hospital scrubs are provided,
• Parking available in a parking deck,
• Must reside outside a 60-mile radius of the facility as local candidates are not accepted for this position,
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply,
• Previous permanent staff must wait 6 months before being considered for a travel assignment at this facility
