Supervisor Associate information

What is a supervisor associate?

Supervisor Associates are entry- to mid-level professionals who assist in overseeing teams, projects, or operations within an organization. They typically support senior supervisors or managers by coordinating tasks, monitoring employee performance, and ensuring that company policies and procedures are followed. Supervisor Associates may also help train new staff, resolve minor conflicts, and contribute to process improvements. Their role often serves as a stepping stone to higher supervisory or management positions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a supervisor associate?

To thrive as a Supervisor Associate, you need strong leadership abilities, organizational skills, and a relevant academic background, often a bachelor’s degree in business or a related field. Familiarity with workforce management software, scheduling tools, and performance tracking systems is typically required. Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and team-building skills help set outstanding Supervisor Associates apart. These competencies are crucial for effectively overseeing teams, ensuring productivity, and maintaining a positive work environment.

What are some typical challenges supervisor associates face when transitioning into their first leadership role?

Supervisor Associates often encounter challenges such as balancing their own workload with overseeing team members, adapting to new responsibilities like scheduling and performance reviews, and learning to provide constructive feedback. Navigating team dynamics and resolving conflicts can also be demanding, especially when supervising former peers. However, organizations usually provide mentorship and training to help new supervisors build confidence and develop effective leadership skills.

Job description

Maintenance Supervisor

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to join the facilities team of a high-end hospitality and wellness operation.

This role is ideal for a maintenance professional who enjoys being actively involved in day-to-day technical work while also taking on leadership responsibilities. The Maintenance Supervisor will support the overall maintenance operation, coordinate the daily work of the maintenance team, and help ensure the facility remains safe, functional, and maintained to a high standard.

What You'll Do

  • Perform hands-on preventive and corrective maintenance throughout the facility.
  • Support the daily coordination and supervision of the maintenance team.
  • Assign and prioritize maintenance tasks based on operational needs.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and repairs involving electrical, plumbing/hydraulic, mechanical, and general facility systems.
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance needs before they impact operations.
  • Support the monitoring of pool systems, including temperature, filtration, cleaning, disinfection, and other required operating standards.
  • Ensure maintenance procedures are completed in accordance with company standards and applicable Health & Safety requirements.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels of maintenance supplies, tools, and materials.
  • Support the onboarding and training of new maintenance team members.
  • Provide ongoing feedback and guidance to technicians to support performance and development.
  • Assist with team scheduling, callouts, absences, vacation requests, and shift changes.
  • Communicate facility concerns, incidents, repairs, and recommended improvements to management.
  • Partner closely with operational teams to respond to maintenance needs and minimize disruption to the guest experience.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on technical maintenance experience, preferably within hospitality, wellness, spa, hotel, commercial facilities, or a similar environment.
  • Previous experience supporting or coordinating a maintenance team.
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical systems.
  • General knowledge of plumbing/hydraulic, mechanical, and facility maintenance.
  • Experience with preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance needs in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Comfortable providing direction, training, and feedback to team members.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and/or maintenance management software.
  • Associate degree, technical education, vocational training, or equivalent relevant experience preferred.
  • Pool operations knowledge or applicable pool certification/permit is a plus.

The Ideal Candidate

You are a hands-on leader who is comfortable working alongside the team rather than supervising solely from the sidelines. You take ownership of maintenance issues, understand how to prioritize urgent operational needs, and know how to keep a team organized and accountable during a busy shift.

You are detail-oriented, safety-conscious, solutions-focused, and understand the importance of maintaining a high-quality environment for both guests and employees.b
