Responsibilities
What your day looks like as a Superintendent:
• Lead and manage daily stevedoring and terminal operations, including cargo handling, vessel loading/unloading, and equipment utilization.
• Assign, coordinate, and oversee labor and personnel to maintain a safe, efficient, and positive working environment.
• Ensure terminal areas and working spaces are orderly, well-maintained, and operationally ready.
• Prepare and submit operational documentation, logs, and reports accurately and on time.
• Plan and organize vessel and terminal activities to maximize productivity, minimize delays, and ensure seamless cargo flow.
• Clearly communicate standard operating procedures and ensure consistent compliance across the workforce.
• Collaborate with the Customer Service and Logistics teams to coordinate vessel schedules, troubleshoot issues, and ensure accurate and on-time service delivery.
• Ensure compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental standards and lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and required training initiatives.
Qualifications
What we're looking for:
• High school diploma required; post-secondary education preferred.
• Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory or management experience in stevedoring, maritime, port, or terminal operations.
• Demonstrated leadership with a track record of setting a positive example and building effective team engagement.
• Ability to perform and make decisions effectively in a fast-paced, evolving operational setting.
• Strong knowledge of stevedoring practices, port operations, equipment, and industry best standards.
• Experience with Health & Safety oversight and working knowledge of OSHA regulations.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to foster teamwork and professional collaboration.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work night shifts and/or weekends with flexibility for additional hours as operational needs require.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
