Job description

AI Automation Engineer

About Digacore

At Digacore, we help businesses operate smarter through technology, automation, and exceptional support. We're a fast-paced, people-first MSP that blends IT, development, automation, and client experience into one collaborative environment - with real career growth, autonomy to own your work, and leadership that values innovation and practical solutions over bureaucracy.

We're looking for a hands-on AI Automation Engineer - a strong programmer with 5-7 years of software development experience who is AI-native and energized by building real workflows that save time and money. This is a mid-level to senior individual-contributor build role, not a consulting or architecture role: you design and ship AI-augmented automations end to end, writing the code, wiring the integrations, and standing up the workflows yourself using tools like Claude, n8n, and Power Automate. You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with internal teams and clients to turn manual, high-friction processes into reliable automations - and tag a measurable ROI to everything you build.

What You'll Do

  • Design, build, and ship AI-augmented workflows and automations end to end - you write the code and own the delivery
  • Build with Claude (Code, Skills, Agent SDK), n8n (AI nodes/agents), and Power Automate - leaning on Claude as your pair-programmer
  • Write and maintain the scripts, API calls, and integrations that glue Claude, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, internal tools, and third-party systems together (REST, JSON, webhooks)
  • Create reusable Claude Skills, Agents, and Cowork plugins tailored to specific departments and use cases
  • Tag a measurable metric to every workflow you build - estimated hours saved, manual steps reduced, runs executed, user adoption - and do the math to show impact
  • Prototype quickly, gather user feedback, and iterate to production - ship working automations, not slide decks
  • Debug, test, and harden your own builds; write clear documentation so other team members and clients can use, support, and extend them
  • Partner with senior developers to take prototypes to production-ready workflows, and translate business problems into scoped solutions and well-written tickets
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with stakeholders and end users during discovery, demos, and rollout

What You Bring

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5-7 years of professional software development / programming experience, including 2+ years building automation or AI/LLM-powered features - a confident, hands-on coder who ships production-quality work (mid-level to senior individual contributor)
  • Strong programming skills in at least one modern language (e.g., Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or C#) and comfort working across the stack
  • Hands-on experience building automations and integrations end to end - whether low-code (n8n, Power Automate, Zapier/Make) or code-first
  • Hands-on experience building with LLM APIs (Claude, OpenAI, or similar), including prompt engineering
  • Solid API and integration experience - REST, JSON, webhooks - and the ability to script systems together
  • An ROI mindset - you instinctively ask "how much time does this save?" and can tag a metric to the work
  • Strong troubleshooting and research instincts, and the ability to pick up new tools, models, and APIs quickly
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable working directly with end users and presenting your work
  • Authorized to work in the US and able to work a hybrid schedule out of our Lakewood, NJ office (remote considered for the right person)
  • Willingness to ramp on our MSP and client context

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Hands-on experience with n8n (ideally with AI nodes/agents) or Power Automate (ideally with Copilot)
  • Direct experience using Claude (Claude.ai or Claude Code) as a build and pair-programming tool
  • MSP or other multi-client / service-business experience
  • Experience with additional LLM platforms and APIs (OpenAI, Azure OpenAI) and prompt engineering best practices
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and the Power Platform
  • Experience working with databases such as Supabase, Postgres, or SQL Server
  • Familiarity with Node.js, React, or other modern frameworks
  • Experience supporting operational workflows or internal business systems

The Right Mindset

We care just as much about mindset as technical ability. The ideal person for this role:

  • Is genuinely excited about AI and treats new models, tools, and patterns as opportunities, not threats
  • Loves building and shipping - happiest when something they built is working in production
  • Thinks in terms of outcomes and ROI, not just tickets closed
  • Can stay calm and professional when clients are stressed or systems are misbehaving
  • Has a "white glove" approach to customer service
  • Balances speed with care - ships quickly, but tests and documents what they build
  • Wants to grow into a senior AI automation / agent engineering role over time

How You'll Be Measured

  • Number and quality of AI/automation workflows shipped per quarter
  • Documented hours and dollars saved across the workflows you build
  • Reliability and maintainability of the automations you put into production
  • End-user adoption and satisfaction with what you deliver
  • Growth in your technical depth across Claude, n8n, and the broader AI toolchain

Growth Path

This role starts as a hands-on individual contributor with a clear runway. As you grow, there's a path into a senior AI automation / agent engineering role, or toward technical leadership within the Development & Automation (D&A) team.

Compensation & Location

  • Compensation: $120,000-$150,000, DOE
  • Location: New Jersey (Lakewood) hybrid preferred; remote considered for the right person
