Job description

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)

Preferred: SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) or training may be provided

Licensure: Must hold a Florida license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or a Registered Nurse.

Experience:

Registered Nurse with at least one year of experience in Midwifery, OB/GYN, ER, Womenโ€™s Health and/or completion of SANE certification

Or

Advanced Practice Registered Nurse including a clinical rotation in Midwifery, OB/GYN, ER, Womenโ€™s Health

$33.33 per hour for all shifts, which includes on-call hours, meetings, trainings, and onsite exams with an expected per diem availability of 10 to 12 hours a week

Additional Requirements:

Must be 21 years of age.

Negative Drug Screening prior to hire and throughout employment.

Clear Criminal Background Check throughout employment with Suncoast Center and local checks prior to hire and annually along with DCF Level II prior to hire and as required by DCF, and Must have valid Florida Driverโ€™s License Motor Vehicle checks prior to hire and annually with acceptable driving record maintained throughout employment along with reliable vehicle, valid registration, and valid vehicle insurance. (must be in compliance with Florida Laws and Administrative Codes with fingerprinting and determined to be of good moral character).

Working Conditions/Physical Attributes: Must have valid Florida driver's license, proof of personal automobile insurance and a driving record that is acceptable to Suncoast Center. Travel to Pinellas County community locations such as, but not limited to, hospitals, nursing homes, county jail, Eckerd College, and CASA DV shelter. Schedule is on-call.

Computer Literate: Computer and technical skills sufficient to perform responsibilities and train others.

Job Duties:

To ensure organizational excellence, the incumbent performs Sexual Assault Victim Examinations on victims/survivors of sexual violence crimes. Throughout exam, provides sensitivity and understanding to promote recovery and healing for victims of sexual violence.

  • Perform an appropriate and detailed, physical medical or forensic examination to collect evidence and lab specimens in accordance with the SAVE program protocol;
    1. The SAVE team sees male and female victims of sexual assault ages 13-17 if they were assaulted by a non-caregiver, and male and female victims ages 18-100.
  • Participate in 24 hour on-call rotation to respond onsite or in a community setting to perform examination;
    1. Should be available for on call for a minimum of one 12-hour shift per week and should be able to physically respond within 60 minutes.
  • Maintain understanding and sensitive disposition for victims/survivors of sexual assault to ensure comfort during the exam process;
  • Create a thorough and accurate medical record on each client examined in accordance with SAVE program protocol;
  • Provide medical advice and referrals for SAVE clients as appropriate;
  • Attend monthly SAVE Team meetings.
  • Provide accurate, expert testimony as requested on SAVE cases;
  • May participate in performing SAVE AFTERcare Clinic exams according to Sexual Assault Services protocol;
  • Attend training as needed to remain current on best practice in the field;
  • Attend and actively participate in all staff development and quality assurance meetings to obtain up to date information on status of program and protocols, as well as obtaining training information relevant to position. Participate in training, orientation, and assessment of new staff as requested;
  • Participate in the agency and program's visionary goals by communicating with SAS manager regarding vision of what the program can become. Provide written and oral communication to the SAS manager regarding current program vision, and status of the program, through open communication;
  • Maintain good working relationships with professionals in the community by maintaining professionalism at all times. Establish and maintain good working relationships with Suncoast Center, Inc. employees and volunteers to further an atmosphere based in teamwork;
  • Maintain excellent professional conduct including but not limited to personal responsibility, ethical behavior, and treating individuals with dignity and respect. Lead by example as a medical professional in the areas of personal responsibility, treating individuals with dignity and respect. Adhere to all Suncoast Center, Inc. policies including: Ethics, Supervision, Confidentiality, Safety, and Information and Security policies;
  • Attend annual HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) training, will read and follow the Suncoast Center, Inc. Program Procedures Manual regarding protected health information, and will adhere to all HIPAA requirements;
  • Complete Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) training and any updates required to maintain that certification;
  • Other duties as assigned.
