Outpatient Therapist

Position Summary 

The Outpatient Therapist provides behavioral health services to individuals, families, and groups in an outpatient setting, helping clients address emotional, behavioral, and social challenges that impact daily functioning and overall well-being. This role delivers assessment, treatment, and therapeutic interventions while collaborating with clients, families, referral sources, and community partners to promote positive treatment outcomes. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy services to clients across the lifespan. 
  • Conduct biopsychosocial assessments, develop treatment plans, and maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation. 
  • Utilize evidence-based and trauma-informed interventions, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), DBT-informed skills, Motivational Interviewing, and psychoeducation. 
  • Support clients experiencing anxiety, depression, behavioral concerns, trauma, grief, family conflict, relationship issues, substance use concerns, and life stressors. 
  • Coordinate care with families, medical providers, referral sources, and community agencies as appropriate. 
  • Participate in treatment team meetings, case consultations, and clinical supervision as appropriate. 
  • Respond to crisis situations and safety concerns in accordance with organizational, clinical, and regulatory requirements. 
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, 42 CFR part 2, ethical standards, accreditation requirements, and organizational policies. 
  • Monitor client progress toward treatment goals and adjust interventions as clinically indicated. 
  • Complete documentation, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries, within established timelines. 

Qualifications 

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related behavioral health field preferred. 
  • Active Kentucky clinical license (CSW, LPCA, LMFT, LCSW, LPCC) preferred but not required. 
  • Experience providing outpatient behavioral health services preferred. 
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, mental health disorders, family systems, and evidence-based treatment approaches. 
  • Strong assessment, treatment planning, and clinical documentation skills. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to build therapeutic relationships with diverse client populations.
