Job description

Pay Rate: $16.23 plus shift differentials
FT 40 hours Monday-Friday 11pm-7am 

GENERAL SCOPE: Maintains the security of the building and meets the safety needs of the residents.  Performs scheduled light maintenance and housekeeping as directed by the Summit Facility Services Manager.

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATION:

  • High school graduate or equivalent. 
  • Successful completion of the Security Guard Act 8, 16 hour training class and Annual 8 hour certificate by an accredited school.  This may be supplemented by security training in a police academy or recognized security instruction through the military or civilian training. 
  • Must have a current NYS certificate in compliance with Security Guard Act.
  • Must have a current, valid NYS driver’s license.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Conducts walking rounds of the interior and exterior of the Summit buildings to insure building safety, remaining alert and observant for hazards or security breaches.
  • Investigates and reports all fire hazards and unsafe conditions.
  • Responds promptly to all emergency situations.  If needed, conducts investigations and submits written reports.
  • Assists residents, visitors and staff.
  • Monitors the security cameras located at the Concierge station.
  • Maintains a written log sheet of all activities and submits it at the end of each shift.
  • Coordinates and controls activities at all emergencies until the arrival of competent authority.
  • Becomes proficient at the operation of the main telephone switchboard and any other system(s).
  • Conducts fire safety inspections, fire extinguisher inspections, fire safety equipment checks.
  • Performs duties in accordance with Summit policy.
  • Acts in a professional manner at all times and treats others with respect.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all residents and facility information.
  • Answers all incoming phone calls and responds accordingly.
  • Locks and unlocks designated areas.
  • Maintains a written log sheet of all activity in the Concierge Communication Book.
  • Monitors the Lifeline System at the Concierge Desk.  When away from the desk carries the pager, a 2 way radio and cell phone which is turned on at all times.
  • Provides responding fire, police and ambulance personnel with professional assistance and accurate information.
  • Provides escort service to vehicles as needed.
  • Follows all prescribe OSHA safety regulations relating to this position.
  • Shoveling/salting of sidewalks.
  • All other job duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of security experience in health care or related field helpful.  Experience with MS Office and MS Outlook preferred.
