In the energy industry, PSE's market presence is widespread along the energy supply chain, ranging from trading and procuring natural gas, power and environmental products to meeting the supply needs of industrial and commercial end users and utilities on a very large scale. PSE also has a significant presence in the Over the Counter (OTC) market, Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) and New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) as a leading participant in energy futures and options. In 2025, we opened our London branch to expand our liquefied natural gas (LNG) operations and to continue growing steadily in the promising opportunities presented by the energy transition.
About the role
Position Overview The Accountant supports daily accounting operations, including accounts payable and accounts receivable processing, general ledger recording of energy trading activities, period-end close, internal and external audits, internal controls, and financial reporting. The role also compares budgeted results with actual performance, performs preliminary variance analysis, and supports financial system implementations and conversions related to back-office accounting processes.
What you'll do
#1 • Process accounts payable and receivable accurately and on time in SAP. #2 • Process and employee expense reports accurately and on time in Concur.
#3 • Resolve payment-processing issues by collaborating with other departments and taking ownership of assigned responsibilities.
#4 • Prepare straight forward journal entries and determine the appropriate accounting classifications in accordance with US GAAP/IFRS.
#5 • Reconcile, analyze and review general ledger accounts in preparation for month end close to ensure accuracy and validity of accounting transactions and company books and records.
#6 • Monitor bank balances, reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly.
#7 • Participate in month, quarter end, and year end close financial reporting and disclosures.
#8 • Assist others in GL Accounting department as necessary to facilitate a timely close.
#9 • Support internal monthly financial statements to senior management
#10 • Support preparation of financial statements and footnotes in accordance with IFRS
#11 • Maintain documentation in support of external and internal audits.
#12 • Participates in external & internal audit by analyzing general ledger accounts and providing information for auditors.
#13 • Serve as liaison to auditors and other groups within PSE
#14 • Maintain organized records and files to document financial transactions.
#15 • Maintain controls to ensure the integrity of all systems, processes and data and recommend and implement improvements to accounting processes and procedures.
#16 • Provides support to GL Accounting Manager and Director of GL Accounting as requested
Qualifications
Educational Requirement: • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
Required Skills: • A sound knowledge of the accounting principles (US GAAP/IFRS) • Computer proficiency, especially Microsoft Excel • Good spoken and written communication skills • Highly detail-oriented and organized • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
How Many Years of Experience: • Minimum 3 years in general accounting
