Job description

A growing mechanical contractor is seeking a Piping Superintendent to lead and coordinate large-scale, complex multifamily and commercial construction projects.


The ideal candidate brings strong field leadership experience, a deep understanding of construction operations, and the ability to manage teams, schedules, resources, and project execution while maintaining a focus on safety, quality, and client satisfaction.


Responsibilities

  • Lead construction projects including new builds, expansions, renovations, and facility improvements from planning through completion
  • Manage daily field operations, project schedules, manpower planning, materials, equipment, and trade coordination
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development to field teams and direct reports
  • Establish and adjust work sequences to meet construction schedules and project milestones
  • Monitor project progress, productivity, budgets, earned value, and forecasted completion metrics
  • Inspect ongoing and completed work to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, quality standards, and project requirements
  • Drive jobsite safety practices by identifying and eliminating potential hazards and ensuring compliance with safety procedures
  • Utilize Quality and LEAN construction principles including pull planning, look-ahead schedules, constraint tracking, and continuous improvement practices
  • Support project budgeting through labor forecasting, material takeoffs, estimating, and change order pricing
  • Identify and resolve construction challenges related to productivity, manpower, scheduling, and trade coordination
  • Partner with project management, engineering, purchasing, quality control, and other internal teams to ensure successful project execution
  • Lead pre-construction, planning, and coordination meetings to align project teams on scope, schedule, contract requirements, and expectations


Qualifications

  • 5+ years of construction leadership experience within mechanical, commercial, industrial, or large-scale construction environments
  • Construction Superintendent certification and applicable trade licenses/certifications preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of construction processes, means and methods, sequencing, and field operations
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, construction documents, specifications, drawings, BIM coordination, and project requirements
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining project schedules, budgets, and quality standards
  • Proven leadership skills with experience developing teams and managing field personnel
  • Strong communication, organization, conflict resolution, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to think strategically, anticipate challenges, and drive projects forward successfully
